does crowning hurt?

I'm pregnant with my 3rd and would like to go natural with this one. I'm scared to get epidural again and go natural. My question to all the mama's that have given natural birth... when the baby was crowning did it hurt? What hurt the most about natural labor?

Crowning was nowhere near as bad as the contractions. Crowning was easy for me. With no epidural I know when to push and I knew how hard to push. I did tear but it wasn't a big deal and it didn't hurt.

I have never given all natural birth. With my 3.5yr old I was given epidural and induced. This go round I am going natural. Have talked with midwives and doulas, if you oil down there and do kegels. It helps to strengthen and let it stretch during birth. Hope it helps.

I agree with last post. The last 30mins are the worst.  I was at the point I felt I couldn't cope then it was quickly push push push..... baby. I doubt you would be able to tell if you tore.  I did slightly and didn't know till they mentioned stiches! Good luck!

This will be my 5th baby and i have had all of them natural and the stinging is called the ring of fire and they were not kidding but because it hurts so much helps you push the baby out way fasterand the up most worst pain is the final 30 min of labor just remember when you think you just cant do it anymore ...means the end is near

When the bb is crowning u can't tell if ur gonna rip! It stings for sure but goes away when the bb comes the rest of the way out!

I agree with the lady above me. That stinging only lasts for a little while and pushing is a relief. In my experience my 3rd labor was the easiest of all my labors. I only had to push once with her because she was coming out on her own during a contraction. I was able to deliver all of mine without pain meds. Just don't push unless they tell you to. That will help.

Yes it hurts. Intense stinging pain but it's very quick then goes away. Pushing hurts a lot but is also a relief. Good luck :)
