When I was pregnant with both my sons they offered that test but both times I declined.. There was no real reason for it to be done. But the drs offered it anyways.
The amneocentesis is only donr in cases where they highly suspect genetic problems or issues with baby. The genetic testing on the other hand was usually done to older pregnant women to find out if the baby had any genetic problems, it takes almost a week for them to analyze the blood bc they look at DNA, so it's a long process. Nowadays some doctors.offer it to everyone to rule out those problems (even when you don't have any risk factors) and also to find out the sex. Since it's DNA they look at, even with the actual genitalia not being formed, the test is 99.9% accurate. I has it done at 10 wks and found out I'm having a boy. They only drew blood from my arm. Also I'm an RN and I did a lot of reading about it. Good luck!!!
The test that they do where they draw from the belly is an amniocentesis. It has a risk of hurting the baby though.
Yeah that's the part im not sure about if u have to have a reason or not
I'm actually getting really excited I might find out what I'm having before 20 weeks.I hope my insurance covers it.
Whoa thats crazy.. This is my third pregnancy in 3 years.. I have never heard anything like this before
The blood test is as accurate as an ultrasound 99.9% all they do is take blood from u and I think it takes like a week
Even though I would still want to get the ultrasound too. Just to make sure
Really I was just curious.. In almost 12 weeks now. I have always declined tests like that but if I could find out what I'm having that's exciting
Yes I was able to find out
I had my blood drawn as part of the 12 week screening. Not only did it test for down's syndrome and other chromosomal issues, but I was able to find out the sex of the baby as well!
Were you able to find the gender of baby also?
Because there is some sort of test where they sick a needle in your stomach and through the sack to test the baby.. I just didn't know if it was the same thing
I had it done they just took blood from my arm but its because im rh negative and they had to find out babys blood type. So Idk if u need a reason to get the test done or not
