There are a ton of thyroid med options. I used to work at a compounding pharmacy as a technician and thyroid was one of the main things we did along with hormones. They can make any strength, and rout of administration can be different too. A cream, a liquid, or a different pill. A lot of people have abnormal thyroid function either high or low. Ask your doc about having it compounded to fit your needs. Best of luck!
Yes thats the recommended daily amoubt for pregnant women...its good to include it in your food also as with supplements your body only absorbs around 20%...with food your body will absorb it whole. So keep taking the supplements but include some of it in food too. Goodluck
Yeah my sister had low thyroid when she was pregnant too so I guess it runs in the family. They Say I can go off the meds couple months after I give birth if my thyroid is good so that makes me feel better too. It just got super crazy low from the pregnancy. . Babies do take lots from us though.
My mom's side of the family have thyroid problems,my aunts was always do screwed up that she actually felt at her best while pregnant! It was the only time that it ever stayed regulated. But she has a special thyroid. My grandmother took synthroid from the time it was invented until she died
I was way more tired in the first trimester and it has gotten better but im still tired Sometimes so yeah it will help me. And I wanna do what's best for my baby. :)
Yes my thyroid wasn't very bad at all the first time I was on it so really I think I didn't need meds for it but I didn't know and my doc prescribe it to me and I started getting high thyroid symptoms Cuz of the dosage. But now Cuz I'm pregnant my thyroid is super low so I think it should be ok. I have been super tired (thought it was pregnancy related) so it will help me to have more energy. :)
Sounds like last time the problem was the dosage
So I decided to start taking the thyroid meds. . I talked to my doctor and the pharmacist and they said I won't get as much side effects as last time I was on it Cuz my thyroid is a lot lower now so that made me feel better. I just wanna do what's best for my baby. :)
hair loss and skin problems can be symptoms of thyroid problems. there a couple genetic disorders that can make thyroid difficult to manage, if you have a family history of thyroid problems you should be checked for those.
runs in my family.
I just looked at my prenatal vitamins and there is 150 mcg of iodine in there. I obviously need more though ?..
Well The thing is is that I'm not tired anymore. . I was in the first trimester but now it's way better and I have been doing my prenatal work out and have Been going on walks. . I'm just really confused. And before I was only on .5 mg. Of thyroid meds and I was getting horrible side effects from that low of a dose. I'm just nervous and scared. I am definately Gonna try eating some more foods with iodine. . Thanks!
Honestly dont panic..I doubt its the smoking as you dont smoke anymore. But there are other causes to thyroid problems also. Ask your doctor what may be causing it. Goodluck

I'm sorry girl. The good news is this is a fixable problem and you'll both be happy and healthy. Can u schedule an apt to meet with your doctor and go over labs in person so u can discuss your previous lab work and symptoms too? Insomnia and hair breaking are signs of too much thyroid hormone. So it's possible that the dose of your medication last time was too high. It was overcorrected, if you will. If on the correct dose, those symptoms should disappear. Low thyroid symptoms are things like depression, constipation, and fatigue. So maybe on the correct dose you'll feel just great! Just trying to give a bit of encouragement. Get a doctors apt and have this discussion in person, I think it will help u feel better about everything. Good luck!
Your thyroid needs iodine to function...without it it will not work. Im a nutritionist ans see this all the time. Iodine is in seafood and real salt. You know it is real salt when it is brown or pink in colour. Go and buy some rose hymalaian crystalised salt. Most salt is refined these days and white...and minerals have been stripped. Google what foods have iodine in. :)
Thanks. . The nurse called me back and they were gonna prescribe me the same medication so she's going to talk to my doctor to see if there is an alternative and let me know what I should do.
Never been through it but I will keep you in my prayers
Anyone? I'm so upset :(((
