I was induced with both of my children, won't be with this 3rd little one. They hooked me up to the monitors, put me on a pitocin drip, a couple hours later my water broke and the real fun contractions started, lol. A couple hours later I got the green light for the epidural and an hour after that I was pushing. Both kids went about the same, had complications with my 2nd one but the process is still the same. Good luck doll, induction isn't bad, but the contractions are more painful. If it is medically necessary though, trust your doc, they'll tell you exactly what's happening.

Do a lot of reasearch before you make a decision i am a naturalist and personaly would love to wait untill my body is ready. For me, to schedule my labor would just take the magic away from it. I would feel that im just in for a routine procedure. If its absolutely necessary because of medical reasons then its suggested. However if your not at risk than just consider the pros and cons and how you feel you want the birthing process to be. There is alot of information and debated about inducing labor. I would have my baby born on he/shes schedule rather than mine or my drs schedule . Some of my friends have beem induced and i respect their choices however for me i will go for the natural way . It just more special and spontaneous

I was induced with my last pregnancy and it was far from flawless it sent my blood pressure dangerously high, my daughter went into distress and I started hemorrhaging and it didn't even speed things up. They only induced me for their convenience because my labor wasn't going fast enough for them and there was no medical reason I wasn't even in pain until they induced me. They finally stopped the pitocin before I ended up needing an emergency c-section and then my labor finally picked up. With this one my doctor wants to induce me but only because of complications I have been having and she believes it's best for me and baby to not go to DD and we both hope I will go naturally before she induces me. I would research being induced because it carries a lot of risks. I ddefinitely wouldn't recommend it unless there is an absolute need for it.

Thanks everyone for your story. Idk why he wanted me to get induce. This is my third pregnancy and never had to before. And the more and more I.think about it I may just wait tell after my due date to be induced. I would hate to be the reason something was wrong with my son. Thanks again

Thx for posting this. I'm self employed and have a crazy busy work life. I told my Dr if she isn't out June 9th (3 days after my dd) I want to be induced. He is fine with that bc I will be over 40 weeks...I'm actually meassuring 1 week ahead of my dd. Good luck!!

I was induced at 39 weeks. I went in at 6 AM for prep, I was put on the pit drip at 7:48 AM. My water bag was busted 10 minutes later at 7:58 AM and then my contractions started getting really intense; I progressed from 2 centimeters to 6 centimeters dilated in 30 minutes. I had no pain medicine, no epidural, just pitocin for induction. My daughter came at 9:01 AM, I never had to push.. my
contractions were that strong that my body pushed
her out on its own. I enjoyed my birthing experience because I felt everything. I CHOSE to be induced at 39 weeks (that is the earliest doctors will do it here) and I don't regret my decision at all. I had a great labor, no complications at all. My daughter was healthy and strong, 6 lbs 1 oz and beautifully perfect. We went home the very next day! I'm getting induced again this time around.

I was induced with my 1st as well. It was 2 weeks after my due date though. Everything went smoothly with no complications. My son was huge at 9 lbs 13 oz 22 in long. I'm pretty tiny pre pregnancy at 115 and 5'4.  My doctor will induce me again if baby is tracking to be that big again..

I chose to get induced with baby #1 and I'm getting induced again on Thursday. I personally loved it. They started me on pitocin at 5am. Broke my water at 8 I got my epidural at 9 at 12:40 I started pushing and 10 minutes later my girl was here. Induction is a personal choice. For me it was great but it's not for everyone.

I was induced with 3 out of 4 children...now pregnant with #5 and will be induced again.....you usually get induced if it's a call for concern to protect both you and baby's health but all mine were perfect:)  praying this one is as well.....Good Luck!!!

In my case I was 37+6 it was a decision my doctor and I made together.  I have various health issues that made the end of my pregnancy unbearable. I could barely walk.

I think induction is a personal choice.  My son was 6lbs 13oz and perfect in every way.  Now he's a rambunctious 19 month old

Erika watch "the business of being born". That might help you make your decision.  It is very biased,  but it does have a lot of good information in there.

I agree with angel, natural is always best! I'm going on baby #6 and I had to get an emergency induction at 35 weeks with my second last one...it S.U.C.K.E.D!! So I would only do it again if for emergencies with no other choice :/ but good luck with whatever your choice is :)

My induction was flawless.
They broke my water and started the pitocin at 1:30pm i was 2cm dialated but I didn't go into active labour until 4:00pm.

My son was posterior so I had a lot of back labor.  By 7 I was 4-5cm and asked for my epidural I got it at 8pm.  At 9 I hadn't dialated much past 5cm and they realized it was because my bladder was full and baby was stuck behind it.

They emptied my bladder with a tube and I went from 5 to complete in 20 minutes. I had to hold off pushing until my doctor got there and when he did I basically 'let go' and my son was born

I needed 30 stitches though since he came out so fast.

May I ask why you want to be induced.. or why he suggested it? Is There no option of letting baby come when it's ready? Cause that's the best for both of you :)
