I read that at this stage in pregnancy ur baby already had a sort of routine as fsr as what it hears n sees in ur belly. The senses r still developing and what I got from the article is that anything unusual (like loud pops, a bright light to the stomach ect) csn actually delay some of that development n sometimes even harm those developing senses. My advice would be, don't risk it.
I also go shooting with my hubby i am 33 wks and haven't went since 24 weeks bcuz i read that the decibles are not good since the baby is in liquid and sound travels diff under water/liquid. Most ppl say nothing more then a .22 and not to be inside of a shooting range due to the lead etc. must be in a well ventilated area :)
Oh! And if you do go have your husband load+reload the gun for you. touching the amo is not good while pregnant cuz the metals in them
I wouldn't go. I haven't done any research but just dropping the washer lid makes a loud enough bang to make my baby jump so I would think a gun would be much worse. You're half way done so I would just hold off a little longer :-)
A fetus in utero begins to hear sounds at 26wks. I don't know the exact science behind it, but I remember reading that extremely loud sounds can actually cause hearing damage to fetus.
The way I see it, if adults have to cover their ears while in the shooting range, I assume it isn't good for the baby's ears either.
You should talk to your ob about this.
I went shooting my entire pregnancy with my daughter and she is perfectly fine no harm done.
Shot a deer 2 weeks ago, I'm 30 weeks now and he seems to be doing just fine! I say go for it!
