I am taking zofran and it's perfectly safe and a class b drug. The ads on tv are just lawyers trying to get money for a case they can't prove. The birth defects they state are the most common among all babies born no matter a family history or not. Don't be afraid to take it if you need it. If you are that afraid though, look up the study of 600,000 pregnant women in denmark in 2013 that proved it was safe.
Okay thanks i was curious too. Im in my 3 trimester so if the morning sickness starts ill have too. It just scared me ;) im a ftm so i guess its better to ask then to panic:)
I was prescribed zofran with my previous 2 and in my current pregnancy . all babies healthy and beautiful *
Np :) at least you weren't someone who just jumped to conclusions. Lol
Thanks mommas!:) Im not freaking out anymore lol!:)
I took zofran from the time I was 2 months pregnant until birth for severe morning sickness . My son was born with no hand . I dont know if theres a coneection .
Really ?! Im sorry I bet he is beautiful!!
I have seen those too. But I have taken it all the way for three pregnancies and all healthy babies with no defects. I think those ads might have to do with lawyers trying to get money too. I know other pregnant ladies who have taken and none of them had defects in their babies either.
Ive been taking it ...my first pregnancy years ago it was forbidden...Thankgod they say its safe ! It has been a life saver for me !!!
My OB doesn't Rx Zofran bc of the cost. He said it's the SAME EXACT thing as taking Pepcid Complete and Unisom together (per recommended dosage of each). Totally safe and much cheaper if your insurance doesn't cover the Rx. Unisom is a sleep aid, but the ingredients combined with Pepcid Complete are the same as what's in Zofran.
My sister used Zofran with both her pregnancies. Her children are perfectly healthy.
I had to take it for my first trimester and part of the second at a very high dose because, literally, nothing else worked and it was a, "here, take this or die of dehydration and subsequent heart failure" situation. All that crap about ginger, b-vitamins, and whatnot was useless to me. I'll just have to wait and see how my baby turns out.
One thing that did make a huge difference was getting an IV with hypertonic solution instead of a regular IV and some potassium tablets at the ER.
Any baby can develop defects for any reason or no apparent reason. They are pretty common. I hope your baby ends up healthy though.
