If you can find out what triggers your migraines--- whether it is caffeine or a certain food or just stress, then you would be better off. I was having issues with my vitamins causing headaches so I stopped them for a week and have been fine. Now I have to switch what I take up. If I do get an occasional headache now I just take Tylenol. My headaches eased up after the 2nd trimester too. Keep us updated on what works for you.
I have been getting migraines monthly during my period for years. Now that I am pregnant, I have had a migraine for 2 1/2 weeks straight with very few breaks. For me a chiropractor doesn't help because my migraines are triggered by hormones, not alignment issues. Migraines are common during pregnancy. As for treating them:
Both Tramadol and Fioricet are Pregnancy Category C, which means:
"Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks."
Also Fioricet has both a barbiturate and caffeine. Caffeine should be limited to 200 mg or less per day while pregnant and one Fioricet has 40mg. Definitely do some research before taking Fioricet while pregnant.
I've been taking Tylenol for my migraines while pregnant which doesn't entirely get rid of them but at least keeps them at bay. I have also found that warm showers and a heating pad on my neck helps some.
Best wishes for you...hopefully your migraines will ease up!
I rarely have headaches. But since I've been pregnant I've had headaches. Have you tried the chiropractor? It helps. Sometimes its your back misalligned that can cause your head to hurt.
