I am confused.

I went to the doctor today.  My hcg levels are kind of fluctuating.  On the 20th they were 266, the 22nd 137, 25th 134, and then 136 on the 28th!  I am definitely confused.  They did a vaginal ultrasound today to see if I had an ectopic pregnancy, and found nothing.  They didn't really have many answers for me.  They want me to have my levels checked again on Tuesday, and then come back on see them on Friday May 8th.  They said that I wasn't out of the woods yet for it being an ectopic, it could just be too small to see yet.  Of course, I am to go to the the ER if I experience any bleeding with pain.  It is sooo hard when you don't know what is going on!  My 2 miscarriages that I had this time last year was over with in a week.  The levels dropped pretty quick.   Has this happened to anyone before? If so, what was the outcome?

I agree w/Amanda - that hcg levels not rising or fluctuating is not a good sign & I wanted to add that many times when there's an early ectopic pregnancy, nothing is seen anywhere. I highly suggest that you go to the ER AT ALL if you have any the slightest pain.

I don't want to be negative here, but I will be honest.  Yes, I have had a similar situation, and although it was not etopic, it was a miscarriage.  When HCG levels are dropping instead of rising that is not a great sign.  However, that being said, I have seen levels drop, then come back and all be just fine.  I hope that is the case here.  I do wish you luck, and please keep us posted.
