ob says 6.5 weeks measuring 8 no hb

My ob-gyn retired last year so I saw one I don't know at all. I have had four healthy children but youngest is 13 yrs old.
I am 41 and my fiance is 43. This pregnancy was a shock but very happy! My fiance also has 4 healthy children from a previous marriage. We found out February 11 that I was pregnant through the emergency room when I got sick. They said everything looked fine and I was about 6.5 weeks along. I went to an actually ob-gyn Monday, Feb 27th and the doctor stood at the door and a young nurse/doctor (not sure) did a vaginal ultrasound for no longer than 8-10 seconds and immediately looked at me and said baby is measuring at 8 weeks and there was no HB!
We were devastated!! Still standing at the door the Dr said it was probably genetics and our age.
We both have 4 perfectly healthy children w no complications! They did not discuss anything further! No followup appointment for anything! No bloodwork! NO actual vaginal exam. NOTHING!! I still feel very pregnant with all the symptoms!! I am gaining weight in my stomach and everywhere. Now I would be about 9 week along. I don't know what to do next!!
So for the past ,6 days I have been so upset but have faith that my baby is okay and they are just wrong about how far along I am by a couple weeks. How do they even know that I am supposed to be 8 weeks versus my baby measuring 6.5 weeks? None of this was explained and I guess I was in so much shock that I did not have much to say at that moment. I have had NO bleeding No pain and I still have pregnancy symptoms!
What Next? PLEASE HELP!! Thank You all !

From what I read heartbeat should be noticeable after week 7 of pregnancy. If you know when your last period was you can calculate how far along are you or use an app to do it for you. 6.5weeks is still too early to notice a heartbeat.
If I was you I'd arrange an appointment with another OB for a second opinion.
If you actually are 6.5 weeks then no need to worry, even if you're at 8 weeks the heartbeat can be a bit late.
Also age doesn't have to mean anything it's not your first pregnancy after 40+ years, and that limit of what's considered young or old for being pregnant has moved.

I want to say congratulations on your pregnancy first of all .I have fingers crossed it all works out. Your doctor sounds callous and really inadequate for sensitive care of taking care of a family. Plenty of women have babies at 41 years old and especially when they aren't their first. I have a nephew born to my sister when she was 41. Her third child. I think that I'd consider another doctor in the practice or another doctor all together and get your hcg levels measure to see if they are rising. Then you know. Please stay i touch and let me know how this goes.
