9wks but no heartbeat found at scan

Im 9wks pregnant & have a slimey discharge with a cream/brown colour so i went tö A&E. They did an internal & the cervix is closed. They took bloods & my hormone level was 38000. Today i had a scan, tummy & internal but a heartbeat cud not be found & the measurements suggest the baby is the size of a 5wk fetus, in a healthy sack? Tomorrow i have tö return for more bloods tö check if my hormone level has doubled (as it should have) we are very worried and nervous.....am i on the road tö a miscarriage ?

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. If you are in fact 9 weeks pregnant, then there should be a heartbeat by now, and the embryo should measure at around 9 weeks; however, if there is a chance that you ovulated later than you though, then you might not be as far along as you think...and if so, everything could be fine, as the heartbeat does not show up until about 6 weeks or so. That's probably why they want you to come back in for blood work. If the number goes up (close to doubling or more), the pregnancy is still viable; but if it stays about the same or has gone down, then unfortunately, it would be classified as a missed miscarriage. I sincerely hope it's the first and that you just ovulated later than you though. BUT, if it is a miscarriage, please know that you're not alone. So many of us on here have experienced one or more miscarriages (myself included....one spontaneous and one missed miscarriage), so if you need to talk to someone, we're here for you. But for now, let's hope your numbers look good tomorrow!
