Amniotic fluid

Hi ladies, I have some questions? First of all how do you know when your leaking amniotic fluid and what does it look like?

Also what are good classes to take before you give birth if you are a first time mom?

Thank you I appreciate all of your responses.

I took a natural birthing class, which both my husband and I found to be very very insightful and helpful in preparing us for the birth. Whether you want a natural birth or not, I still think such a class is way way better than the basic one they provide at the hospital. You get a lot of useful hints and tips for what to do before and during labor.
As per getting to know the facilities in your hospital, most of the time the free tour the hospitals provide is more than sufficient.

I've heard the classes are mostly really great for partners, especially those who aren't the book reading types that many of us naturally become. My husband would be reading them but he's swamped with a lot of work stuff and getting the house ready, so I think the one at our hospital will be great for him. I'm mostly looking forward to getting to know what the facility is like, what they offer, etc.

If you're leaking clear/pinkish liquid from your vagina then you know it is not urine.

As for classes, go to the hospital you're going to give birth at or that is closest to you. A lot of them offer classes.

I read a lot of books about pregnancy and birthing so I didn't feel like I needed the full blown class. But my hospital offered short one day seminars on a variety of specific topics I was interested in on top of the full pregnancy and labor courses. They also offered infant CPR which I think is helpful, too. I took one or two of those, took the hospital tour and felt ready.

The above post I agree with although I got great info from our birthing class. Must depend on the class. :) i would also recommend a infant cpr class.

It's clear, but has a sweet smell to it. Classes wise I didn't find the birthing class I took very helpful, but I would take some kind of birthing class to learn about what happens and what to expect so you're not surprised when you get in the delivery room. If you plan to breastfed I highly recommend taking a breastfeeding class. It doesn't need to be anything special I took a 4 hour 10$ class and it was very very helpful.
