What's all this about FSH?

After some, what I would term "digestive issues", two miscarriages and a heck of a lot of tests, I saw my RE yesterday who informed me that the "diagnosis" is ovarian function.  I am 41 with an FSH (at time of testing) of 25.... I feel healthy, I dont even feel 41 .. and I cannot believe that this level indicates a poor ovarian reserve.  It feels like a life sentence.  I am surrounded by pregnant women, so that friendly myth about it being contagious is really a bunch of bunk... if anything, it is a test of being able to stay sane!
I have no trouble getting pregnant, just staying pregnant.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I would be grateful for any feedback.

Hello , I do have some experience  with this, I got pregnant last Aug . Lost baby at 6wks. In Nov 09 got my FSH test done it was 11 . They would like it to be under 10. Im going  to be 42 in June .Went to see RE yesterday .He wanted my DH to get sperm tested Im getting HSG done, and check progesterone and start me on clomid. My problem was also staying pregnant . The good thing about clomid is women our age is a low chance of having multiple baby's.. No life sentence for us yet , DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE..  Their are sooooo many difffernt options for us.. SSBD for you .... Mary:)

I am so sorry you are going thru this but yes 25 is usually poor ovarian reserve & usually a no-go when it comes to IVF.  I think the ideal # is under 9.  You can check this chart if you like to check out FSH levels.  There have been stories of FSH fluctuating so you can try again at another Dr & Maybe get a 2nd opinion.
Don't Give up!!!
