delayed growth of embryo

Hi, I am now 8 weeks pregnant.   At the   6 week ultrasound  the sac measured 5.1mm, yesterday at week 7 and 6 days it measured only 6.1 ( almost a week behind). I am 36 and this is my second pregnancy. Lost my first at 17 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. MY amnio at the time had 100% result. I am concerned because My OBGYN seemed concerned that  delayed growth might signify a choromosomal defect. The heart beat was strong and within normal limits. Any suggestions for a nervous mommy?

It doesnt always mean a problem, although I am certain your Dr. will carefully watch.  More times then not it means you are a bit off on your dates.  Is that a possibility?  I wish there was something to tell you besides wait and see.  I know, that is the worst.  But, keep in mind that just because you had one pregnancy with a chromosonal issue, it does not necessarily mean your second will be that way.  Please keep us posted, and I wish you well.

Some pregnancies can often be dated a few weeks back then thought, sometimes its just completely normal, and just developing at a slightly slower rate, and can even quickly catch up and outrun there original dates. So dont worry too much if u can help it...

Chances are he/she will catch up soon enough. A nice strong HB is a good sign!
