Fragmented embryos

Hi all,

I'm 42 and just had the disappointing news that my 3 embryos are fragmented and I cannot move ahead with a transfer. They waited until day 5 to see if one would become a blastocyst, and no luck there either. Just wondering if anyone out there has a positive story about moving to a 2nd/3rd IVF and having success after a similar situation. Trying to decide how many times to put myself through this before moving on. Such a difficult decision.

Thank you for the support! We are going to the RE next week to see what our options are for another IVF.

And, congratulations on the beautiful baby girl!

I'm 35 now, but have been through 8 ivf's.  Out of all of my ivf's I had only 2 embryos that were 8 cell on day 3 all the rest were 7 and lower.  All my embryos including the 8"s were fragented.  I did get pregnant and lost the pregnancy at 5 weeks due to it being ectopic. For me and my husband all the tests kept on coming back normal so they could not find anyting wrong, so that was hard not knowing.  After we did the 6th ivf they did laproscopy surgery and they took my tubes.  Well, after a few months we decided to do another ivf and i got pregnant, but lost that one at 10 weeks.  It was very hard.  Everyone wanted me to give up even my husband, but in my heart I new i had to try one more time.  I got pregnant.  They tranfered back 4 embyros.  There was one 8 cell, one 7, and two that were smaller.  They were all fragmented,  now I have a beautiful baby girl that was born July 7th.  Good luck and listen to your heart.
