Heart Rate...??

Hey Preggers! I am new to the world of motherhood...after having 1 previous miscarraige..I am now pregnant again...I had my 1st u/s at 10 wks all looked well...I went for my annual 4 week check-up (a week later at 11 wks) and my Dr put the heart monitor/doppler on and couldnt hear/find a heartbeat...I knew it was possible that he might not be able..As I was told it depends on where the baby etc is lying...But couldnt help but be a little scared..I have another appt in 1.5 wks to go for another one ...As my Dr said it would ease my nevves because of my previous experience..and missed miscarriage..you cant help but be scared or think the worst...Anyone have this happen to them or know anyone..1.5 weeks...
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks ladies!

Well its very comforting to know someone else has been there as well...just not under these circumstances...I am so happy for you...and it must feel so wonderful to be out of the dark and scary phase...1st tri...congrats!! Thats is very exciting news and the ultrasound as well!! I will be glad when I am out of the scary stage as well...and as you said it you do try and see the positive in everything..I think this time around I almost tried to distance/detach myself from it all..so in case something went wrong..It wouldnt be so difficult....I will let you know how I make out next week...hopefully they will be able to hear something at 12.5 weeks..or it may just put me over the edge...lol...Im thinking positive thoughts..I will say this though..its not fair that for people who have had to go through this and many times more than others..that everytime when you get pregnant...you cant fully enjoy it until your out of the dark 1st tri...but I can just imagine how it must have felt for you both to have reached and surpassed that point...It is so very relieving ..real and exciting!!
Thanks again for all your positive thoughts...morning sickness appears to be lifting away from me too...were you really sick in the beginning...??
PS. I had 2 yolks sacks at my 1st u/s...at 7 wks and at 10 wk u/s still the same..so it was the start of twins..but didnt amount to anything..!! Apparently its fairly common..so they say anyways!

Yep, I am happy to say I am 14 weeks today.  It's been a long road for us.  I have had 5 miscarriages (1 being a missed m/c), so I can completely understand your fears.  I have really struggled to stay positive through the early stages of this pregnancy, and truth be told am only starting to relax and enjoy it now.  My ultrasound at 12.4 weeks showed all was well and that was when I finally was able to breathe again if you know what I mean.  Hang in there, you will get there.  Try to find joy in every day...I know that is easier said then done, but it's the only way to conquer that anxiety.  If I can do it, I believe anyone can!

Hey there..thank you for the welcome and the information...As in my earlier email I has aid because of my previous missed miscarriage its hard to not jump to conclusions and to think the worst...which I hate because I was never that person ...to jump to the bad possibility first before considering the positive..Well I will go back in a week or so..and by then I will be 12 weeks and a bit..so maybe by then..I had asked if my Dr could give me another u/s jsut so it would calm my nerves because my 1st u/s was under the 12 week marker...but he suggested coming back to use the doppler..with hopes that it will ease my nerves...Anyways I guess I will have to be patient till then..hard to do...but what can you do...
Thanks alot for your advice and opinions..I truely appreciate it!!
Are you pregnant now..? If so...how are you feeling..? And how far along are you now..??
Congrats!

Hi there and welcome.

A doppler can be tricky at 11 weeks. Many Dr's don't attempt them until 2nd trimester, for exactly the reasons you stated (my Dr. is like that).  Another OB I work with tried one on me around 10.5 weeks, and after quite a bit of effort did manage to find it, but had told me before we tried it it may still be too early.  I also have a home one, and it's just since yesterday (13.5 weeks) I can get the heartbeat myself.  So, point is, try not to worry too much.  If you had a healthy ultrasound at 10 weeks your chances of miscarriage at that point decrease.  I too have experienced m/c and I know how scary pregnancy afterward is.  Hang in there, I am sure they will find it next dr. appointment.  Good luck to you!
