8.5 weeks but only showing 6

I am confused...I should be around 8.5 weeks but had an U/S yesterday and baby was only showing at 6.  They said they finally found a heartbeat but my husband and I were not impressed, plus they never wrote on the charts that they found it or what the number was.  My HCG levels at my original 5 weeks were in line with a 5 weeks pregnancy now 3 weeks later the fetus has only grown 1 weeks worth??  So they moved my due date back from May 6th to May 25th...said it was a miscalculation of my dates.  Here is the confusing part - I had been charting everything and here are my dates:

July 30, 2009 First day of last period
Aug 16, 2009 Positive Ovulation Test - assume ovulating in the next day or two (had other signs as well)
Aug 26, 2009 Took first pregnancy test and it was positive (faint line but there was one there)

I repeated the at home tests 3 times over the next day or two with 3 differing brands (even went to the word one so there could be no confusion)and all showed positive.

With the new due date, all the conception calendars I use online say I conceived in early Sept which is after the positive preg test?!?  I have always been really normal so I am pretty sure I did not have like a 45 day cycle this time.  Any thoughts??  I go back in for another sono on Oct 12th.  Thanks!

Hi Amanda, hope u are feeing well. Just think positive and keep taking care of you. Every thing is gonna be all right at your next U/S, you will see. Don't worry too much about the date, be glad they were able to find your baby's heart beat. And this is a good sign. GOD BLESS YOUR PREGNANCY. Keep us posted.

Well w/my last pregnancy I had a similar thing happen to me.  I KNEW the day of conception, like you I am SUPER regular & get all the signs of ovulation etc..........
Got my first + HPT @ 12DPO, went in @ 16DPO & a few times in a week 1/2 times & everything was lining up perfect.  Went on a holiday to England, & even though my symptoms were getting stronger, my first US I SHOLD have been 7 weeks, & I my baby was measuring 6 weeks 1 day & no HB was found. The DR said that either my dates are off, which I was 100% POSITIVE they were NOT wrong, or 2nd that it was not going to be a viable pregnancy ;(  We repeated the US for the next 2 weeks & my baby was "catching up" @ my last good US the little peanut was only 3 days "off" & had a super strong HB over 160!  I was so happy.  My ob said "well, everything looks great, maybe yout baby is just a bit smaller, or I had late implantation, come back in about 2 weeks"
I was SOOO happy, came back @ 10 weeks 4 days w/my kids....BIG mistake I SHOULD have listened to the little voice inside of me, my baby stopped growing @ 9 weeks ;(
The Dr really just could NOT believe it, I'm not sure if he really couldn't, or if he was just being sweet to me.  Bu I think he was really expecting to find everything good, being that the little peanut was growing well, always a bit behind, but still consistently & had a strong HB.
I wish I could have told you a better story ;-/  & I REALLY hope it turns out positive for you.
keep us posted, & try not to worry too much, at this point the only thing you can do is pray & hope & take it easy.
