Update: Having 2nd thoughts...

Well, I just called my OBs office, and asked the exact date when my OB returns, and the nurse said Aug 5th, which is only 2 days past my due date.  For some reason, I thought he was gone longer, but anyway...I have an appt this Tues to go for my NST and have internal to see if I progressed further, she said my OB is probably going to admit me Tuesday night to hospital to start cervix dilation with the balloon catheter (had that with first pregnancy), then once dilated to 10 will start with the pitocin.  Here's where I'm having the dilema...Even if I wait til Aug 5th when he gets back and still haven't gone into labor naturally, I'd probably get induced then.  So it's either this Weds or next Weds...GOOD GOD!!!   I've definitely taken into account all your opinions, and my friends, and husband's opinion, and it really comes down to what I'm most comfortable with, and want to do...but for the life of me...I honestly don't know what to do!!!!  Believe me, I envy you ladies that went into labor naturally...but for me, I just don't know if that will happen.  Then I get freaked out about going to 40+ weeks cause the baby could get too big, or may swallow meconium, etc...I'm just so undecided and unsure of what to do.  Sorry, to keep going on and on...I just need to hear more from you I think : )

I am so glad you decided to wait.  To me, by waiting you're going with natural time, the baby's and yours, not a doctor's schedule.  Everything will work out the way it's suppose to be.  Trust and have faith!!!

YAY!! I'm glad you made a decision that makes you happy. It's sooo hard to make that decision and I don't envy you a bit for having to make it.  I bet your baby will wait for your Dr. :) I think if you decided to do it before your dr. left and something God forbid went wrong you would be so distressed. This way, you've waited and see what your body does and when it get's too long you can make that decision at that time!  I hate it too planning for my c-sections, Yack!

I like it! I hope you make it until your doctor returns, and that all goes smoothly.

I agree with tator...you will make the right decision!  I love you girl, and can't wait to hear that Olivia is here!!  I think I am almost as excited as you are!!!  lol.  And no matter what you decided that little girl is going to arrive safe and healthy!  I too would probably do it this week, but that is mainly because I am impatient!  You do whats right for you.  XOXO

either way,  I think you will be making the right choice-  if the question is what would we do-  I personally, based on all else that you talked about, would do it this week.....  but you won't make a wrong decision, either way!  Good luck!   you're going to have a new baby to kiss and hold very soon!!!

Jen,  I was 2 days past my due date with my son, but was induced.

All the ladies:  Again, thank you for your words of support, it really means alot to me!  I guess after my appt tomorrow morning I'll know what I'm going to do!

Question - how far along were you when you delivered your last baby?  If you've gone into labor early before, I would think chances are you'll deliver before August 5th.  What does your doctor exactly recommend?

Anyway that being said, I tend to agree w/Rachel - go for it - your baby's full term and w/you already dilated and effaced, chances are you'd go into labor before August 5th.  Don't worry and stress too much - it'll all be okay! - jen

I wish I could help, I also think that both days are fine, but I do think that either way weather you go into labor natural or are induced that you will be less worried if you are with the dr that you have had all along, you must really trust him if he was the only one you wanted to see, but please just try and relax and do what your heart tells you, can't wait to see pics of that pretty little baby!! best wishes Julia

You do whatever you think it's right for you... we only can give you opinion.  Either way you still have healthy baby...

Your body can tell you exactly what you need to do.. I am so happy your time to hold baby is near.. I am still have long way to go.. at least 5 more months.. :-((

Wish you all the best and hopefully you make a right choice for you.. not because people tell you to...

Take care

Hey Pam,

I think the excitement of realizing how soon it is has gotten you to second doubt yourself.  Your baby is considered full term this Wednesday and next, so it it not a safety issue for Baby. Personally I say go for it. You have chosen your doctor for a specific reason!! Either way Baby Olivia will be here soon!!! The choice is yours and we will support you either way!!!!!

luv ya,
Rachel

Hi Pam,
I think that you need to only ask yourself 1 question. Do you want to bring your baby home now or in another week or so? You are going to have a healthy baby to hold in your arms either way.So it is just a matter of how prepared you are for the new baby.If you need a little more time to get ready then take it. Otherwise why wait to hold your baby in your arms.
                                Best wishes,  Debbie
