Postpartum edema and pain

I am 4 weeks post delivery via c-section and am suffering from edema, more than during pregnancy and also intense joint pain. My OB does not seem concerned, but the pain wakes me from what little sleep I am able to get. What is causing this, and how do I get rid of it?

what was the result of the lab tests?  Did the swelling go away?  how long did it last?

I too great swelling in my legs and ankles after birth and it peaked about 4 weeks post-partum.  I'm surprised your ob isn't more concerned - when mine saw my feet, he immediately ran some tests (x-rays, lab work) to make sure it wasn't my heart and then he prescribed a very powerful direutic (sp?) to help w/the swelling.  I even ended up getting checked out by a cardiologist after a while.  I think you should go back to your dr and get re-evaluated & be checked out again or at least by another dr. - I hope you get well quickly!
