Recurrent Miscarriages at age 42-ultrasound findings

I am 42 years old and have had 4 miscarriages in the past 18 months. (5 weeks, 5weeks, 6 weeks, and 11 weeks).  I had a normal pregnancy and delivery 4 years ago.  I was given progesterone support during the my last pregnancy which resulted in the miscarriage at 11 weeks.  The ultrasound that was completed at 8 weeks indicated a heart beat of 41-50 bpm and 2 small fibroids in the anterior body of the uterus.  Could the fibroids be the cause of recurrent miscarriages and do you recommend further evaluation?  Was the low heart rate a prime indicator of an impending miscarriage and would it be considered a genetic defect?  What testing do you recommend?

I have an appointment with an RE at the end of July.  I have had my thyroid tested several times over the past 5 years and all was normal. However, I have had many symptoms related to a sluggish thyroid and recently ordered a supplement called Metabolic Advantage Thyroid Disorder.  I've had some not so good experiences with doctors lately and have been able to get some very useful information through these forums. I appreciate the feedback.

I am so sorry about your losses.  It could be any of these things as well as Maternal age.
I am 44 and have a 3 year old DD as well as 2 miscarriages in the past year and 1- 1/2 years.
I am now seeing an RE ( reproductive endocronologist).  I am going to try IVF once.  After that I guess I will accept that my time is over.
You should pick a good RE and start investigating now.  You may still have time.
