Wondering when/feeling a bit ignored

So I'm almost 8 wks pg now and still have no idea when my 1st appt w/ my ob will be.  Last wk they called and left a message about my ultrasound results; I kind of thought they would mention setting up an appt then.  I'm still waiting to hear from them.  I see online women my age who are getting blood tests every couple days and ultrasounds about every wk and I don't really need all that; but is it wrong to want them to pay just a bit of attention.  I had to ask for the blood test;and then they didn't test my progesterone; which is a problem for quite a few women over 40.  I got the ultrasound because I had a ultrasound already scheduled to check out a questionable thickening of the cervix and I asked to postpone it 2 wks till we could see the baby at the same time.  I know most low risk pregnancies get seen btw 8-10 wks but 45 is supposedly high risk and it might take some time to get in and I'm going to want the maternit21 test which you can take at 10 wks; so I need to get in before and get the ball rolling.  I'm pretty sure I'm just going to have to call them myself to get stuff kicked in gear, but just wanted to let off some steam w/ people who can understand what I'm feeling.  What are your experiences w/ 1st visit?

I agree with Helen. Vote with your feet. I was 38 when I became pregnant with this baby, I got in right away.

Thanks for your replies, girls.  Sherrycoup, I would be thrilled to get in around 7/8 wks, and have an ultrasound any time around there; but like I said I'm already 8 wks and didn't even have an appt yet.  I did call in and asked when the dr would want to see me for my 1st appt and they started out w/ March 6th.  By then I would be almost 12 wks.  I'm thinking they don't subscribe to the AMA thing.  I did talk them into moving it up one wk; so almost 11 wks.  Just worried that something will happen; like a missed miscarriage and I won't know it for wks.  When you get to be my age; the time btw 6wks and 11 wks can be an eternity when you don't get to hear a heartbeat.

most dr's dont see you until around 7-8 weeks for first prenatal appt. Then have first u/s around 8-10wks!  Then you will get another u/s around 17-20 weeks for gender scan.  So be patient!!!!

My ob typically does the first u/s at 7 weeks and then another check around 10 weeks.  Nuber of u/s and ob appts you get may also depend on your health insurance.  Some Kaiser enrollees only get 1 u/s at 15 weeks for example.

If you have to chase your ob I would find another one.  Vote with your feet!

Not sure what to do if you are in the UK. If in the US, I would look at a new Dr.
