5 1/2 wks yolk sac no fetal pole

I went for an us today the Dr. saw a sac and a yolk sac, but no fetal pole yet. I went for a blood test today as well. If my HCG levels are going up he said we should be able to see a felal pole next week. Is this normal?

How are you? Just wanted to let you know that I went for an us toady. We saw the baby for the first time. It was so amazing, we also saw the heartbeat. Thank you so much for your advice and well wishes. Good luck to you and your baby boy. Keep me posted.

Sounds like things are going great.  I agree with the others, you were just too early.  Those early ultrasounds are good for making sure things are in the right "place" but other then that can cause so much extra stress.  I'm sure your next one will be very reassuring.  Good luck, and keep us posted!!

My hcg levels were 1,900 last week. This week they are 15,000. I spoke with the nurse and she said that it was normal because I am very early. I go back next week for another us. Thank you, and have a great holiday!!

It is very normal to not seem much as 5 1/2 weeks. You should see the fetal pole next week and you might, I say might because not everyone does at 6 1/2 weeks, even see a heartbeat. Good luck!

Hi there,

This is normal - you're still quite early and maybe the dates could be off.  Give it a week or so and watch the HcG levels.  You might even want another u/s in another two weeks just to give the baby a chance to show itself - don't rush into any decisions.   Did you have a transvaginal or abdominal u/s ?

I know how hard this is - it feels like its going to be the longest week ever - try to keep positive.   Easier said than done , I know - but, hang in there.   Keep us posted on this - I wish you a happy ending.  Good luck and try to enjoy your holidays.
