Just an update for my friends...

Hello, ladies. I just wanted to update those who are interested in my progress toward my goal of getting a tubal reversal. Through my blog, I received several generous donations...enough to pay for almost 1/3 of the surgery. I've managed to save the rest of it - so I now have enough for the surgery. All I have to do now is save enough for travel expenses - about $1000. My goal is to have the money saved and get the surgery in January. I'm scared, nervous, excited...I can't wait to get it done and start trying to get pregnant. It's probably a little soon - but, as you all know, I'm no spring chicken and I don't have a lot of time to spare. So, anyway....please keep me in your prayers! I so appreciate all of the friends I've made on Med Help...you are all very special people!

When my cousin had her tubal reversal, her period was delayed.  Her doctor said that was possible, due to them manipulating the tubes and disturbing the ovaries.  Be prepared for that.  It could happen.

She had portions of her tubes cut out when she had her tubal done.  When she had the reversal, there was little healthy tube to reconnect.  The operating physician didn't hold out much hope of her conceiving.  Boy did she fool them.  She has a handsome son now to prove the doctor's wrong.

I understand you have more of a chance to become pregnant quickly if your tubes only had clips on them.  We just had a case on our Forum, where one lady reported that the clips had come off her tubes years after her tubal.  They found the clips down in her lower abdomen during an ultrasound on her bladder.  My daughter has two clips on each tube, which I watched during her C-section, being placed on.  She already has three kids, so I pray she doesn't have the same thing happen to her.  She had three premature babies and just can't go through that again.

We are all very anxious for you and your surgery.  We are also praying that you conceive quickly after your surgery.  Good luck to you and dear hubby.

Carissa...I believe they tell you to wait one cycle. So if I get the surgery in January, I'll have my period shortly afterward, then we can try in late February.

Yikes!  I understand now, and thats definitely a difficult dilemma.  Are you still leaning more toward having the surgery done in January?  How long after the surgery do you have to wait before you can ttc?

take care,

Carissa.

spade22 - my husband is a carpenter...which, in this economy, is not a real stable job. We're very, very lucky he's found something that will last about a year. In a good economy, it's a very well-paying job...but right now, not so much. Although it's a union job, they don't have the kind of paid vacation days that will allow them to take off a day or two. If they take off a day, they don't get paid. And in construction, there's so much competition...if you don't perform, there's 100 guys waiting in the wings to take your job. So since he'll be the "low man on the totem pole" he doesn't want to ask for any favors for a few months. So my options are basically 1) go without him and get my daughter or my best friend to go with me or 2) wait until March or April to get the surgery.

This is such wonderful news Tricia - what a great way to bring in the new year.

Does your hubby not have the option of taking time off so early into his job at all, or is it still a possibility but he doesnt want to ask at this time?  I wonder if he could approach his employer in the following way: "I just found out that my wife will require surgery in January.  Are there any options that would allow me to take off a few days during that time that would be acceptable for all parties involved- for example, would taking unpaid leave, or using comp. time be acceptable?"  I dont know anything about the situation so just a suggestion.....

Debbie - yes, I decided to go to Dr. Perez at Rio Bravo.

mt42 - my blog is www*wanttobeuntied*wordpress*com (just put a "." where the "*" is.

Thank you everyone for your support...I'll keep you all updated. The only monkey wrench is that Brandon just started a new job and we don't think he'll be able to take off any time. So, I may have to take my best friend with me to get the surgery. I want him with me...but he doesn't want to jeopardize his new job and he knows I don't want to wait a few more months. :-(
