Your OB will help you to decide what is safe but unless there is a medical reason you can't labour then they'll probably induce you.
The OB docs know about the increased (small) risks of stillbirth with advanced maternal age and in my case with ivf so I am not keen to go over dates (which couldn't be more precise!).
However, if you don't wait until your body is ready you also increase the chance induction will fail and you'll end up needing surgery. (Healthy baby but downside is you'll need to be recovering yourself for longer and look after a new baby.)
Talk about your individual plan and the pros and cons of waiting.
Went overdue with first--only 4 days over but doc told me how long they would let me go before inducing. Just ask at next appt. You'll have to go for frequent appts too. There's a recommended overdue timeframe because of placenta ability to keep functioning. Don't worry. It's going to happen soon momma!
I have read about girls that got induced 10 days after their due date, as alid said they will use other methods before talk about c section
They won't do a c section unless you are the baby are in distress and they needed to get the baby out faster. I went a few days over with my first and 8 days over with my second- went into labor all on my own. Remember, your due date is just an estimate. So it completely normal and okay to go over you due date. After a certain amount of time (and that amount of time depends on the doctor's preference) they will talk to you about induction.
I was overdue with my first born they induced me no Csection. They won't do a Csection unless its necessary and baby is in distress.
It's not uncommon for first (especially) babies to go overdue.. I've had 2/3 kids go over their dates and never had a cs.
Also there are also other things to rule out first such as a membrane sweep and or being induced.
Unless u want to or are recommend to have a cs then they may well suggest these options
