when should I have my first visit with my Doctor?

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant. This is my third pregnancy in a year, for this reason  my doctor jumped right on get blood work down three days apart at 4 weeks, an ultrasound at 5 and 7 weeks, and put me on prometrium for the first trimester. All is going well but I have been under the impression that you should have our first appointment with at your doctor at 8weeks. I don't have an appointment until 13 weeks and its not even with my doctor, I won't see him until the next visit at 16 weeks, does this seem right to anyone? Do I stick with this doctor or try and find a new one? 8 weeks for me seems to be the turning point of a viable pregnancy.I should add that I only have one child and have been pregnant 7 time including my current pregnancy.

Every Dr does things differently. My Dr's office would only see patients at 8-10 weeks. Then she confirmed pregnancy by vaginal ultrasound. No blood or urine test. Your Dr sounds like that just want to wait until your out of your 1st trimester. It also depends on your insurance. Sometimes they have say over procedures and the order things are done or else they will not pay the Dr.
