What is safe for allergies

I am 10 weeks pregnant and my allergies are really acting up , stuffy nose then runny nose, sneezing,  sinus draing and a lot of phlem stuck in my throat.  The pharmacist said i can take Benydril which i have been taking since Tuesday morning and now they are done so know i need to get some more.  What else can i take in pill form as the nasal sprays don't work on me.  What lozenges can i take also.  Has anyone had bad allergies when pregnant

Couldn't get into my family doctor so i went to a walk in, he said Benedryl was fine and only recommends that.  For some reason he doesn't recommend Clariton or sudafed, only Benadryl..  For the phlem he said to take plain robitusson , not the dm etc. Should be Expectorant only with the ingredient Guaifensin .  I don't know each doctor recommends different things.  Even when searching the net, it says clariton is fine.  You knows.  My throat still sore and know i need to find out what kind of cough drop i can use

Oops, just read the whole thread and I see that nasal sprays doesn't work for you..sorry about that  :)

I would suggest you see your doctor, they can probably prescribe something.  They will probably wait until your 1st trimester is over though as it's not very good to take anything in the first three months..

I take zyrtec and it is available otc now.  I took this during my pregnancy w/ my son and now with ds #2 i am taking it as well.  I have asthma and this has kept my allergies under control and my asthma has been pretty good too.  benadryl makes me tired and does nothing for me.  I need something that i can take everyday.  :)

I take 2 Benedryl most nights to help with sleep.  I'm worried about how it will effect the baby!  My doctor says it's okay, but I feel so guilty.

Rhinocort is category B so it supposedly is the only recommended/safe one. My friend gave me her approved drug sheet and it says Benadryl 1-2 tab every 4-6 hours. Do not exceed 6 pills in 24 hours.

Did the doc say anything?

I know how you feel. I'm the same way with these allergies but I'm too afraid to take anything at 6 weeks. Did Rhinocort once and that was it. The rest of the days I suffer.

Good luck.

benadryl is good, and will dry you up... if you are sneezing and stuffy, take sudafed, it has to be the regular staight sudafed, it can not be sudafed PE, my RE and ob gyn told me the sudafed PE decreases blood supply to the uterus, but straight sudafed is perfectly fine. I dont know about other states but in new york you actually have to go to the pharmacist to get the sudafed, as people were abusing it to make meth, so they have to take your drivers license info down.. I have horrendous sinus troubles and allergies and these have worked wonders on me.. good luck to you
