Luv it! I also have a friend who @ 44 THOUGHT she was going thru menopause, & then one day she realized she was feeling a baby kick inside her! Being that this was her 6th child, she KNEW what it was! CRAZY!
Just a note - At 45 I was sure I was starting menopause. Weight gain, skipped periods, tired and breast tenderness. As it turned out I fund out for sure that I wasn't there yet. Just a little thing called pregnant. So at 46 I delivered a beautiful baby girl. I'm now 57 and we have a 33 year old son and a 12 year old daughter. You just never know!!! By the way, when I go to stores with my son, I feel like I'm 99. When I take my daughter shopping, I feel 29. It's a beautiful thing.
You can have a couple of tests done. One is your FSH count, that measure the quantity of follicles in your ovaries, & they can do another test I believe it's called AMH (abbreviation) & this is a new test, not all insurances will cover it but it's supposed to be REALLY helpful in detecting menopause for women up to 5 years in advance.
They can tell by your blood work if you are starting menopause. They just did this for me and assured me that I am not approaching menopause yet and I haven't had a period since July 1st and sorry to say that unfortunately I'm not pregnant either. Best of luck to you.
Well, I don't really know a lot about this subject, but I believe it is diagnosed based on symptoms rather then actual tests. Things such as dramatic changes in cycle, loss of menstrual period, hot flashes, etc. I could be wrong though, perhaps there is a test they can run. Sorry, not much help here I know.
