No Fetal Pole

I had a vaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks; the conclusion is that the sac is 5 weeks, there is a yolk, and no definite fetal pole. They say I have my dates wrong but I know I don't. Has anyone gone thru this? What was the end result? Trying not to panic but I can't help stress about it.  And there I was excited thinking I had heard the baby's heartbeat... sigh.

Excellent news! I knew you were just too early, plus if your hcg levels were rising that's also a good sign. I too had spotting at 7 weeks, bleeding light pink for a day, that's the only reason why I had a scan done at the hospital at 7 w. But at least I knew the baby was ok, they said it was caused from a hematoma, which occurs after implantation, and then bleeds out at a later stage. The amount of bleeding depends on the size of the hematoma, and mine was only 1cm, so that's why I only spotted for a day.

@ ajayititi, I've been spotting. The cramping has been subsiding. I'll wear a pad but nothing gets on it. Blood will be in the toilet and when I wipe. I'm so sorry for your loss! Hang in there!

Hey. I had similar issue too, but were u spotting or bleeding? Cos i was at six weeks, and having pains too. Thou i lost mine yesteday,  am sure your case is different, just get a second scan after one week. Goodluck.

I was able to get another appointment today, and it was finally with my obgyn! She did another vaginal ultrasound and we are able to see our little peanut and his/her heart! God is great!

I'm hoping the best for you and peanut!! I did also have a period like bleeding with that first pregnancy that's why I went to the er.

Thank you all so very much for your feedback! I had blood work done and the hcg levels continue to go up. I will have another hcg test ran on Friday but I won't see my gyno until the 23rd so the wait is killing me. The reason I had such an early US was because of cramping and bleeding, which unfortunately has continued. If you pray, please keep us in prayer!

I went through that with my first at 5wks and 6days it was just a sac Dr at Dr told me I was having a miscarriage. He wanted schedul a d&c which I said no to and gave me 2 different pain meds which I didn't take cause I wasn't hurting. Went to a gyno for fallow up a few days later. And baby was 6wks and 3days. With a healthy beating heart beat! A few days makes a big difference. I know it's hard but try to stay positive. It's just might be too early to see baby. And your dates are right if you know for sure. You just ovulated later in your cycle than normal.

Hi! I also had a scan at 5 weeks 5 days and all that could be seen was the sac and yolk sac. I  went back in 4 days later and there was a perfect little heartbeat. Alot changes in a few days.  It is really easy to be off days. Sometimes implantation happens later which can change the dates! Good luck to you  :-)

Yes I was told by the doctor that you cant always go off of your last period because sometimes women dont ovulate that 12-14 days from period...sometimes it can be a week later....that happen to me...I was a week later...so dont stress yet..just wait

When I say 5w 5d, that was by my missed period dates, the actual ultrasound said I was only 5w 2d, so only 3 days off, but they say you can give or take up to two weeks from your dates to your actual scan dates. So being a week out from your dates is not too worrying at all.

My first ultrasound at 5w 5d only showed a sac and yolk sac too, but no heartbeat that early. I saw the heart beat when I was 7w 3d. So don't panic, it's too early yet to see a heartbeat, try again in another week or 2 and hopefully you will see something then :)

Hopefully they will repeat an ultrasound next week, I am sure there will be more to see then. Five weeks is kinda early to see much. The fetal pole and heartbeat should be there at 6 weeks+.. best wishes for good news next week. Try not to stress over this ultrasound, your a little earlier then expected.
