I also had the Maternit test and i did not have enough baby dna in my blood so the test was considered inconclusive. I decided not to do it again.
Since I am 37 years young, we were offered the Materni21 test, also called Sequenom. It sequences all 23 pairs of the baby's genes. It rules out all the possible Trisomies (such as Trisomy 21, which is Down Syndrome) It also shows the gender with 99% accuracy
No waiting on an ultrasound. We found out this past Wednesday at 13 weeks, 3 days that everything came back negative(which is good) and they found a Xy. So, we're having a boy, due 12/29.
Most insurance companies will cover the cost. It has only been around the last 2 years
All they did was take a sample of my blood. Every mama-to-be has up to 10% of her baby's DNA circulating in her blood. With our recurrent miscarriage history, we didn't want to chance having a Amnio. Amnios carry a 1/200 risk of miscarriage.
Good luck with your pregnancy and if you are eligible, see about the test. It not only gave us peace of mind in regards to the health of the baby, now we can plan, decorate and start shopping. Take care
The Chinese calendar was right for me, add well add the ring test!! I just found out today and so far, the ring test is right for everyone i know. Take a ring on a necklace or string and hold over belly, if it swings back and forth its a boy, in a circle a girl!! Post the result!
I had a gender scan done at 15w which i paid privately for, and it was a boy. 20w scan confirmed it. All the tests i did at home such as the ring test and bicarb soda all said girl! So although its fun to do, only an ultrasound can really confirm it.
All the home checks I tried said girl and at the 20 week scan its definitely a boy :-) i even did the chinese predictor! it was the longest wait ever for the 20 weeks scan! The 20 weeks since have vanished!! :-) x
