How long did it take your cycles to return to normal postpartum?

Hi all.  I am curious how long it took your cycles to return to normal postpartum.

Ryder was born in January, and AF came back when he was about 4 months old. I wasn't really tracking, but I am fairly confident they were pretty normal.  Last month, OPK went positive CD12.  Strangely, AF showed CD23 (I have always been a 28 day girl, like clockwork, except after second last loss, it changed to 25 days).  THis month, OPK didn't go positive until today, CD14.  This is just not normal for me (at least it wasn't before Ryder).  I almost always got a positive CD 11 or 12.  Do you think its still my body dealing with hormones?  I am trying to decide whether or not to schedule some testing, but am hesitiant.  I went through so much testing after my 3rd loss, and just don't want to go through it all again if I don't have to.  What do you all think?

Mine were odd after both pregnancies for at least a year after AF returned. Even now mine can vary from 27 to 32 days and I was always 28 days to the hour before any pregnancies.

When I stopped pumping when Cruz was 8 months old my cycle returned for the first time. Since then (he is now 14months) they have been whacky! This is the first month that I did not have spotting a whole week before my period....this time around it was only 2 days of spotting. My cycles have varied in length as well. I am not ttc yet but it is still very annoying!!!!!!

Maybe just call your OB and see what he/she says! I think you should just bd for fun and just wait and see!

Good luck and you know I am cheering you on!

Thanks everyone.  I am so trying not to be so obssesive this time around.  And with Ryder in my life, I don't think about it nearly as much...who has time too? lol.  If it doesn't work out that we have one more, I will be fine with it, but still....one more would be perfect!  I appreciate all the input!!

I had Adelina in February.  I was also a 28 day cycle my AF did not return until she was 5 months but now I am on a 31-33 day cycle.  So far I have not paid attention at all to when I ovulate but I don't think you need to worry yet. Remember stress does nothing to help with getting that BFP.  I also think that our bodies remember how to get pregnant and have beautiful, healthy babies so try to focus on the wonderful parts of being a Mommy to Ryder. Before you know it he will have a brother or sister  :0)

It just occurred to me that you were asking cause you were worried about your fertility - not some random poll - Mommy Brain - ignore me I have nothing useful to add :)

Good Luck with your TTC.

I was supplementing with formula from day 1 cause of issues, had to stop the b/fing part at 8 weeks because i needed to go back on "bad for baby" hypertension meds (i was up to 8 pills a day of methyldopa - safe for baby - by week 8 and it was still bad!)  In addition to the high blood pressure - the pumping, sterilizing pump items, bfing with only one working boob, feeding formula by bottles, sterilizing the bottles combined with having to get up every two hours was making me CRAZY - like a raving lunatic. My poor husband.

Like clockwork I got my period back 4 weeks after - I had forgotten how I hadn't missed that at all.  The bummer part is now I've succumbed to the family curse of "bad" periods.  I'm going to have to do something about the fibroid I think.

I would wait maybe 1 or 2 more cycles before jumping to conclusions. It's probable that for some women, it takes a few cycles to be back to normal?

But don't quote me... I am not (yet) familiar with menopause symptoms!

I think that's what is worrying me the most.  Last month OPK went positive CD12, so I probably O'd CD 13 or 14.  But got AF CD 23, so only a 9 or 10 day LP.  In all honesty, I am sitting here worrying that these are perimenopausal signs.  I know, only one cycle, so I am jumping the gun, but if just figures this had to happen while TTC again.  Oh well, I guess we'll see what this cycle brings.

My periods came back when Benoit was 9 weeks and they all have been 28 days per cycle so far. I am not using OPKs but I track my ovulation days and they are at 13/14 days, quite normal... particularly as my cycles were either too long or too short before conceiving Benoit - I conceived him on a 25 days cycle.

After my various miscarriages, my cycles (always had been 28 days) started to have various lengths, from 35 to 25, I assume it's perfectly normal to have the same thing after having a baby. I don't think I would worry much about it as long as the luteal phase is 14 days.
