Hi. With my son (born August 2010), they said the ultrasound showed that his head was measuring a week ahead of the rest of his body. The next person who did the ultrasound said all appeared normal. A week before birth, one midwife said he was weighing over 4kg. ...only for another one (just 4 days later) to say he was 3.7kg.... He was born 4.09kg. All I'm trying to say is...They are USUALLY NOT 100% right. God bless!
Some Dr.s have a bad habit of not filling in the blanks, and seem to not realize how stressful this can all be on mom's to be. I would make a Dr.'s appointment, and go in armed with a list of questions. Included in that would be why you need to see a specialist, and a request for a recommendation. This is your body, your baby and you have a right to know what is happening. Do not be intimidated or patted on the head and sent away. Prepare the list in advance so that you make sure you cover all you want to know.
Babies parts can grow at different rates. I remember one ultrasound where my son's abdomen was at 33 weeks, his abdomen at 34, etc. etc. It meant nothing. The most accurate ultrasound dating happens in the first 13 weeks. After that dating by ultrasound is difficult as babies come in all shapes and sizes.
Go in and ask those questions. Sitting there speculating and worrying is so stressful and you have a right to know if there are any concerns.
All the best to you.
That's what im thinking about doing.
My doctor keeps telling me that my stomach is to small for how far along I am then she tells me that I need to go and see a specialist in a different towm but never recomends anybody or really tell me what I need to go and see them for. Now I have to go in 2 times a week to be hooked up the the monitor to monitor his heatbeat and ultra sound every 2 weeks until he's born.
I'm just confused and not very confident woth my doctor anymore
I don't know why you'd switch doctors. Maybe go for a second opinion ultrasound with a different doctor, but it sounds like your baby has growth patterns that aren't typical, and your doc is aware of that and trying to react to it.
But you may want to see if you can go to another ultrasound provider and try to get a second opinion.
