In 09 I had my daughter and I tore then was cut. I didn't feel ether but I needed maybe 6 stitches. Well I gave birth 5 days ago to a 5 weeks early perfectly health big baby girl and I tore again didn't feel it ether. Thank goodness for an epidural! But healing wise the rip was way worse! I tore from.front to back and exactly like my first I ended up ripping out all my stitches a day later on accident.
Just imagine ripping on all sides. Your Vagina is gonna look like a huge sore. The head can split you straight past your rectum. At least your Dr will know exactly how many cm to cut vs your body continuing to rip on its own. Most likely when you have it once you won't need it in the future ♥
I had a vbac on Dec 13th. My ob tried so hard to stretch me but i wouldn't stretch enough for my daughter. He said if he didn't cut me then i would end up with a 4th degree tear. I had an episiotomy thankfully and only ended up with a 2nd degree. Im glad he cut me. Baby came right out after the cut.
From what I've read, studies are showing that episiotomies cause more loss of blood, are more painful to heal from, and have more complications associated with them than natural tears. Also, I've read that episiotomies can often cause even more serious tears to occur, than what might have without interference. I definitely wouldn't want to get one for no reason either!
Sometimes the best option is an episiotomy because it's much easier to repair a straight cut than a jagged tear. Trust your doctor's decision if or when the time comes.
