can't hear babies heartbeat

I am 6 weeks 1 day and the doctor couldn't hear the heartbeat doing a vaginal ultrasound.  I go back in a week and if we don't hear it then I have miscarried.  Do you think everything is ok, should I hear a heartbeat at this many weeks?

They don't hear the hearbeat that early.  They do however see cardiac activity at about 6.5 to 7 weeks. You're borderline for seeing cardiac activity...that is, it's a bit early.  They'll probably have you come back in a week.    Welcome to Ultrasound Limbo.

I had an ultrasound at 5w6d and no heartbeat, when back at 6w6d and there was a heartbeat.  It could be too early yet.

7 weeks is my experience too. and that was to see it, not to hear it. they did not try and hear it until week 14 for me. hang in there and good luck next week.

Kelly is right on.  You are on the borderline right now.  It's amazing the difference a few days can make, and I hope all works out for you!!  Good luck, and keep us posted.

6 weeks, 1 day is still early. You should be able to see a heartbeat by the time you hit 7 week, so hopefully everything will look good at your next appointment!

Sorry, I didn't get to finish.  This is a toss up. A couple days off and there may not be cardiac activity yet. My son's hb was only 89 at 6w 1d so it just started beating. In one week they can tell a super lot. Did he say he saw a fetal pole or the sac was at least measuring 6w1d?

But, did the dr. see cardiac activity at all?
