Anyone else have a "lazy" baby on ultrasounds?

Sorry, there is something  that has been worrying me. Ive had 4-5 Us so far. Our baby seems really "lazy" not moving alot. The last one was at our NT scan on Dec. 2nd. It moved a very little bit, but it has me worried that something may be wrong. The last one I had at the doc's I was 11w 6d and the doc said it was normal. But I read alot where everyones baby was very active. I guess Im just asking to see if anyone else went through this and their baby was fine. Thanks ladies!

it might be that your ultrasounds are timed at the baby's quiet time of day.  try drinking some orange juice before and see if that doesn't wake him/her up!

I remember my u/s at 12 weeks and watching the baby kind of move one minute and then fall back to sleep or at least that's what my re said.  He seemed kind-of lazy too & my re explained that babies this age don't really have a sleeping pattern - it just comes and goes (i hope I got that right :-)).   When doing the u/s, my re kept jiggling the wand (unfortunately it was inside me) to wake him up so I wouldn't worry especially since your doctor's not concerned - happy 6 more months :-)) - jen

dont worry.... i have ultrasound at least 9 times throughout my pregnancy and my baby is always sleeping and if not sleeping, the movements are very much minimal. even the doctors make remark "This baby is a very calm baby", not once but twice at 2 diffrent times. Sure enough, after he was born, he stay very calm, hardly cries except if he is hungry or in pain. He is now a healthy 3mo+ old baby with development of 5/6 mo+ baby which got him complimented as being 'clever' or 'smart' baby at doc's office every time.

I have to say my entire pregnancy Gavin has been very very active.  I'm 37w3d and he is still very very active.  When I was going through birthing class there was this couple in there and she was 34 weeks at the time and she told us that she only felt her baby move 2 times her entire pregnancy and her doctors were not concerned at all.  I would freak out if Gavin was lazy one day and he had given me two scares my entire pregnancy and I went to L&D to be checked out and he was fine everytime.  I guess it all depends on the baby.  I wouldn't worry too much.  I can't believe you almost 12 weeks, it just seems like yesterday you got you BFP!  Good luck the rest of your 6 months.

My baby is usually very mellow during the day but becomes more active at night.  So, on u/s she looks pretty lazy.  I don't think it's a problem.  Every baby is unique and has a different pattern of activity.  If your ob is not worried you should not either.

He was mellow until about 18 - 20 weeks. I even asked the genetic counselor about it and she said some babies just sleep a lot at all the most inconvenient (during ultrasounds) times! Actually, before one of my appointments the doc told me to drink a half can of coke a little before the US to make him more active It worked!!

My son was not very active all the time either, in fact my Perinatologist mentioned for me to eat/drink something prior to our u/s appts, the food and drink would get them moving, and it works.  Before you have your u/s on Weds, eat something on the way to your appt..see if that helps!  Otherwise, don't fret at all, they are doing exactly what they should be doing...sleeping and staying nice n' cozy in your womb.  As long as you feel movement from your baby on a regular basis, there is no cause for concern...and at 16wks there may not be that much going on yet...just relax and enjoy!!

Yep! Brayden was the most mellow baby I had! Actually when my AFP results came back positive 2 times for spina bifida I thought for sure this was why! Then we had a level ll ultrasound done and he was absolutely fine! He is 7 months old now and I can't keep him still. His current thing to do is JUMP.. JUMP.. JUMP!! All day every day! Your baby is fine, not to worry!! =)
