HCG Levels and 38 yrs old

Hello, I'm new to the site and just wanted to get some feed back. I'm about 7.5 weeks pregnant and have been taking HCG test and ultra sounds for the past few weeks.
My levels have been 43.....114...291....309....601....774....1641....2718....
At 6 weeks, I went to the OBGYN for a check up and the Dr. said in the beginning of the exam, "We should see something!" He didn't see anything and said that there was "free fluid". A few days later I went to get a sonogram and ultra sound with another Dr. and again, they didn't see anything :( This other Dr. said there was no free fluid. I was handed information about a Ectopic pregnancy :(  In that same appointment I had blood drawn and my HCG levels went up :) But still freaked out about a possible Ectopic P.
This morning I went for another BT and my levels went down from 2718 to 2512...Ugh!  No real big symptoms...a little spotting...cramping for like a minute yesterday....today I'm in freak out mode just reading, hoping and praying! Wondering if anyone levels gone down and gone up at 7 1/2 weeks...
Any and all info would be appreciated
Chantille

I'm so sorry.  Honestly, I do think sometimes the unknown is worse then anything else...I hated that rollercoaster ride.  Take good care and I hope you are doing ok.

So I talked to the Dr. yesterday and my HCG results went down again...I was mentally preparing myself for a D&C but now the Dr. wants me to take another blood test tomorrow (Saturday). He said if my levels continually drop then nature will will take its course to miscarry.  If my numbers go up, then we'll consider the procedure....
Currently, I'm bleeding, so I went to Big-Lots yesterday  to get my 48 Maxi Pads :)
Its Friday morning and I do have a little bit of cramping but nothing serious....So today I'm sitting with the fact that I'm discharging this pregnancy.  I'm actually OK with it.  I have to admit, a few weeks ago when I went in at 6 weeks and they didn't see anything- thats when I was a wreck!
I'll post something Saturday morning after the test...
Just want to inform ladies who are going thru the same thing....

Just wanted to mention that when I had an ectopic I also had strange up and down betas.  I had no warning of ectopic until it was too late.  Just had excruciating pain one day and my tube ruptured.  There were no warning signs for me so just be careful.  There was no vaginal bleeding at all - it all went into my abdomen!!    Thought I was miscarrying but couldn't understand why there was no blood.  I think they can begin to rupture tubes around 7 weeks - that was when mine happened.  I am just wondering if you wait for the pain to happen if it will be too late?  I thought the methotrexate should be given as soon as ectopic was suspected - in my case it was too late for that.  Best of luck - I hope it isn't the case.

Well yeaterday, I went in for another Sonogram and what he actually saw was...nothing  :( He did continue to see the fibroid.  I'm at 7 1/2 weeks..
This is the plan:
PLAN: 1. Discontinue prenatal vitamins and progesterone suppositories.  2. Ectopic pregnancy precautions provided. Recommend proceed to ER if abnormal vaginal bleeding, abdominal-pelvic pain, etc as discussed. 3. Consider repeat hCG titters if no pain complaints reported vaginal bleeding increases. If hCG titters demonstrate rapidly falling levels, may consider observation for possible spontaneous resolution. If hCG titters behave erratically, recommend active management (e.g D&C, methotrexate, etc). 4. If no further vaginal bleeding noted, will consider D&C procedure in next few days.

Let's hope my HCG levels rise and this spotting stops :)  I'm hopeful but also a realists.  I do believe the Dr's and I do believe in medical miracles....
I'll post in a few days
Thanks for all of your kind words and support

I am also very sorry to hear you are going through this.  Typically, if HCG levels go down then up, it's in very very early stages.  If HCG levels are dropping now, chances are this is a loss.  I'm sorry to say that, I know it sounds awful.  I have been there myself and I know how hard this is.  I hope that I am wrong and things do come back for you.  All the best to you, and I will keep you in my thoughts.

im so sorry you are going through this....

i have seen this go both ways...i have read posts where women all of a sudden bounce back with their HCG levels and go on to have healthy preg and then i have read posts where the falling HCG level is an indication of an impending miscarriage

again im so sorry you are going through this...i hope your doc gets in touch with you very soon...best of luck
