HELP Negative Test but Enlarging uterus

Here is the deal, last month I spotted 3 days very lightly a week before my period was due. Following week no period. End of month no period. Went to doctor yesterday due to missing period and took urine test but it was negative so she did a internal exam to check uterus and said "hum well your uterus is enlarged, what's up with that?" She then said I need to get an ultrasound but insisted I wasn't pregnant because it would have shown up in urine test. Now I am scared that I have some sort of medical problem. She checked for UTI because I am always peeing but NO UTI or bacteria problems came back. I have ultrasound scheduled for next week and wanted to know if anyone had negative pregnancy tests but was actually pregnant and did they notice the same signs of me.

i think what the doctor was saying is that for her uterus to be enlarged she should be positive on the urine test.
so while pregnancy is possible, so are other things like fibroids, endometriosis, infection, etc.
the ultrasound will help to tell what is going on in there.

hey there, im sorry to hear you are having a few hiccups at the moment, it sounds to me like, if your periods are usually regular and you have had unprotected sex then you most likely are pregnant, you may not be and it could be something else but I am hopeful it is prengancy. Anyways, I got negative tests after I missed my period, and I was still pregnant, it was just too early to tell,, so i think the doctor was a bit silly to say that it would definitely show up on a urine test, however, the ultrasound scan will reveal for sure what is going on in there and I hope for you it is good news. This is my opinion and I think you could very likely be pregnant. good luck to you and I hope all goes well! :)

I have had a negative urine test at the Dr.'s and in fact been pregnant.  I did however have a positive on a home test.  Quite often Dr.'s tests are not as sensitive as I came to find out.  The thing is, at the point you have missed your period, the HCG should be high enough in your urine to come up positive.  Try not to worry...an ultrasound is a great step and it shows she is taking investigating what is going on seriously.  I am not a Dr. but have no doubt there are many minor things it could be.  Unfortunately only time will tell right now...and that is always the worst.  I am sure all is fine, and you will have your answers soon enough.  BTW, you could also request she do an HCG test.  Ask for quantatative, not qualitative.  That would tell you for absolute certain whether or not there is a pregnancy.  Good luck to you.
