Omg!! I have felt your pain. I used witch hazel on mine and some ointment (sorry, forget) but the dr told me what I could use. I had them terrible. Of course, when I went to the drs he had to go ahead and try to squeeze it!!!!! Yeah, can you imagine?! He said it would just be so much relief if it would burst!!!! I wanted to kick him. I didnt though because he said due to my GD and the hemorrhoids he would induce me!! They actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I know it is TMI and sounds gross but my dr said to keep pushing them in and using the witch hazel and practice the Kugel exercises. He said the Kugel's will help pull them in and of course use a fiber helper like citrucel. I was chewing citrucel like candy by the end. Best wishes and I hope you feel comfort soon. :)
My doctor prescribed Analpram and it worked well. I had them so bad with my son and after he was born that I ended up having rubber band surgery and that is quite mortifying
Oh trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet. Just wait. Not trying to scare you but OMG just wait.
wow great advice.. thank you all.. I felt kinda weird asking but I know I could get some advice. I tried the baths and that helped while in there.. I will try the witch hazel thing too and the other ointments! thanks girls.. OMG if these get worse after delivery I am not sure what will hurt more... lol. I see my doc thursday and get the lovely exam .. Im gonna have him check to make sure that is what this is.
I never had these before... hope I dont get them again anytime soon! geezs the things us women have to go thru un top of carrying these big babies!!! Take care

I'm seeing a lot of good advice here. I've dealt with them also off and on throughout my life and pregnancy along with an anal fissure (a split along the rectum that potentially reopens and bleeds with every BM). My additional advice is to apply bag balm or some type of lubricant right before a BM. I've also found that aloe can make the open wound feel soothed in addition to cleaning the surface well, warm baths, witch hazel and prep H.
To help make future BM's easier, be sure to eat a high fiber diet, figs, drink lots of water, prune juice and Citrucel (or something equivalent--just make sure it's safe for pregnancy).
I hope you find relief soon!

The most natural thing I use is pure Witch Hazel I know this might be TMI but wet a paper towel real good with it and tuck it in your butt cheeks for about a hour or so it works very well belive me and also naturally cleans the area so it does not become infected
Ditto on what TN said. I had them during my pg also and OMG after the birth was like a bunch of grapes were back there. I couldn't believe it.
The hot bath really helped me and my dr told me you take hot baths while pg, you just don't want the water to be so deep it covers all of your body and the heat can't get out. Like in those really old legged tubs or in the newer jacuzzi tubs. If you use one of the standard tubs, you can fill it up and it isn't a problem unless you are that small. If I felt myself getting a little too warm, I would make sure my shoulders were out of the water and would prop my feet up so they were out of the water also. I took baths almost everyday in the later part of my pg.
Tucks has some oitment that is called Anusol (sp?). I used that along with the medicated pads. Use the pads as often as you can. Carry some in your purse in a zip lock baggy.
Thanks Ladies,
For your advice... I will try the bath thing and call my doc on Monday... God these thing suck! thanks again
Sitting in a hot bath works along with oitment and wipes. The more you use them the better it gets. It is also very important to keep the area clean after each bm. Hope you get better soon..You can also use some baby cream, balmex is what I used.
Check with ur doc first, but I used the prep H supositories ( but not while pg, that's why I say ask dr first). They worked much better than the cream or pads. I know how uncomfortable it can be. Good luck and I hope you get relief soon.
