Is this normal?

I'm 39 and just found out I'm pregnant with my first baby. I took 6 test last weekend, all positive. I made an appointment with my dr but they don't want to see me until 9-11 weeks along. I made an appt for sept 16th. Is this normal to wait so long to see a dr?  I'm concerned because of my age. Thanks for your advice

Thanks Bonnie. I'm doing great this time. I'm currently 29 weeks and baby is doing well. After trying for 12 years we are estatic! Good luck to you too!!

Congrats. I am pregnant with my first and I'm 41, will be 42 either right around birth or maybe before. It feels ridiculous, I'll be 42 with a newborn! Will people think it's my grand baby?!

While you wait. Go buy some prenatal vitamins to make sure your baby gets all the nutrients he or she needs so by the time you see the doctors you and your baby are at great health. Oh and make sure you drink lots of water and eat many fruits and veggies . Don't stress and rest(; you will be fine

Thank you everyone, this makes me feel so much better.  My husband and I have tried to get pregnant for 8 years. I never thought it would happen and I guess I'm just feeling anxious. Thanks again :)
Bonitagirl, I pray that everything is ok for you.

It's probably better. I get seen early on due to history of ectopic pregnancy and I've gone in a few times and not seen a heartbeat or a empty yolk sac. That's much more stressful. Good luck!

It is very normal. I'm 36 with baby #4. I didn't see midwife with this one till 11 weeks. Its easier to here heartbeat later in weeks. Take it as they are not worried so neither should you.

Bonnie, in the meantime if u haven't already begun taking prenatal vitamins, now is a good time to start.  That way by the time u go to ur first apt, and ur dr asks if ur taking prenatal vitamins, ur baby will be that much better off.  Congratulations and I hope u have a healthy pregnancy!

If you experience any spotting bleeding or cramping or if you just don't feel right at all the doctors will see you sooner

I'm 35 & pregnant with my 1st baby. I didn't have my 1st prenatal appt until 9 1/2 weeks. I was concerned about it too but the docs have a better chance of seeing the baby & the heart beat at that time then they do in the earlier weeks. Do your best to relax & enjoy this process as much as possible. Trust me, you'll be so excited for that 1st appt. It'll be here before you know it.
