My 4d Ultrasound now has me scared!!!!

So yesterday me & husband went to have our 4d U/S done. I am 27 weeks. It was great!!! Until....the tech says "Oh my your baby has such a big head...REALLY!! So now I'm over analyzing the pic's thinking something is wrong & reading different things on Google about certain birth defects. I really wish she wouldn't have said anything...it wasn't noticed til she opened her mouth. It's bad enough I'm a 40+ women having a baby who was  already scared to become pregnant due to my age & the worries of possible birth defects. Any one else have a U\S that left them on edge!

Relax. If there was a problem with the baby's head the nurse wouldn't have said anything. It would have been pointed out to the doctor so that they could come in and inform you of a concern.

Btw, both my previous babies have big heads. It runs on their daddy's side.

Yea if it was something wrong they would have told you especially  when they do the scan to look at the baby brain kidney etc...

Was the 4d us covered by ins? How expensive is it?

lol @ KAT.  Yea if there was a problem with the baby doc would of said something. I just think it was insensitive that the tech would say something like that. Mayb U should say something to the doc. Bcuz she put unnecessary stress on U!  Good luck.

@ lady I don't believe ins. Pays for that I had one with my first daughter and remember paying like $250 for a disc with pics on it. But prices may have changed by now.

Thanks ladies. Unfortunately my Dr doesn't offer the 4d ultrasound with all perks. This was done at a baby ultrasound location that has all the special pictures,DVD'S...etc. So there is no Dr's or nurses. She didnt say it in a alarming way. But I will say my pregnancy hormones kicked in & my mind went left.

Yeah...I had a coupon & I got the whole package for 116.00....normal price was 199.00.

Ok Monique I know how that is but try not to get too stressed then. And make sure u mention it to doc just to double check nothing is wrong still. I know I would of been worried too. Keep us updated on NXT scan THX!

One of the biggest reasons I've seen against getting an optional 3D/4D us is the unnecessary stress it can cause because of poor imaging or non medical professional commentary to the parents! Certainly, being up your concerns to your dr so they can be addressed but my guess is that if there was any thing of actual concern, you would have heard about it from your real dr already.

I wouldn't worry.  My son had a big head.  His height and weight was in the 10th percentile and his head in the 75th. Some babies just have large heads. My son turns 5 on Wednesday and has grown into ig.
