Next Steps at 41!

Spoke with RE office yesterday - they recommend IVF with cycle of Chlomid and FSH injections.  Do not recommend PGD .... They say, we are not saying its impossible or your chances are 0... just that the odds are lower given age and two miscarriages.  I told them, I know there is one good egg and all I need is one, right!  Acupunturist says, stay calm, get good rest, keep feet warm, watch funny movies, stay calm -

My RE recommended IVF so that they could look at some of the eggs before they transfer.  I actually ovulate like clockwork and I have regular cycles and periods....The reason is because I have had two miscarriages and my FSH level when checked last month came in at 25 (1-10 is good; 10-15 is "gray area") and a low AMH - together they say it indicates i have a low ovarian reserve or poor quality of eggs due to my age... This is the only thing that they can come up with because everything else came back either "perfect" or "normal" including all blood work, ultrasounds, hystosonogram, etc etc etc ...

If you feel good and you trust your doctor you are ahead of the game.

Wow!  I'm glad that you are getting advanced treatment.  I can't afford any of that.  I wish you the best of luck!  Listen to the acupuncturist,  he/she is probably right!!  Keep the foods and drinks warm, have lots of protein, and control stress.  These things by themselves won't make a baby, but they will sure help!  PS:  I do like Clomid, it's simple and easy.  It never fails in helping make mature eggs.

I'm just curious, why did they recommend IVF?  Did you mc a lot of times?  Are your lab results showing that you are not ovulating properly?  II'll be 40 in Aug, and I keep telling my doc that I'm old, and to forget it, but he's not faced by my age.  He's been begging me to try to get preggo the low key way-just clomid to make sure the eggs are of better quality.  He insists that all is good.  I think that's a little crazy on his part, but that's ok by me.
