Screaming didn't cause stress on the baby either my sister had 3 natural births Abe screamed like hell through all of them they were fine :) and she said some thing people didn't need to hear it wasn't just screaming she cursed she punched the bed she made a huge ruckus and no one cared the girl next to her room came in after and told her she needed a good laugh and she got one after that

I'm not doing it because i hate needles if  i didn't have step b i wouldn't be having an  iv i don't handle pain well either and if i scream i won't be thinking about anyone else in that hospital I'll be thinking about pushing my baby out and holding my baby :) so if you don't do epidural and your in pain girl SCREAM!!!

You have nooooo idra how much pain your going to be in! I agree, keep an open mind about the epidural, it helped me when pain pills didnt. Plus you dont want your child thinking your a crazy person yelling n screaming. You can cause all types of stressto him. Dont try n be a hero. If your in pain do the dural.

Aroma therapy during natural labor. Lavender on a handkerchief to breath in to relax.  Frankensense to be rubbed on the bottom of your feet. Do some research. This will be my first time,  but I wholeheartedly believe in aroma therapy.

Arnav2014 it is a cultural thing also keep in mind, some cultures the louder they are the better and the women are encouraged to be loud and let all emotion come out during child birth, while in others it is frowned upon and they remain very quiet. Its not all related to pain

If someone going to go natural, all power to them. Just don't scream bloody murder and make everyone's life miserable. There are other preg mommis and poor hospital staff too. When I was in labor there was a woman across the room who decided to go all natural. It was a hell for almost two hours for everyone. I wanted to slap that woman so bad.

I had pain meds with my first and it would put me into such a deep sleep in between contractions. So when I had one it would scare me and I couldn't concentrate. I don't recommend it.

I would say not to take any other pain meds. I did and it was dumb. I wish I would've had the epidural. My mom had the same pain meds that I did with my little brother and it was horrible for her too.

There are some things you can take called analgesics that help take the edge off for a little bit during labor. There are a few different meds you can try that all so the same thing. I did one but can't remember what it's called however my daughter and I both had a bad reaction to it. Thankfully it was out of our system quickly but maybe talk to your Dr about it and see what they say.
