complicated pregnancy

I am 41 years old. My last pregnancy was 21 years ago. We didn't use all these lab test and ultrasounds and I'm a little confused as to what it all means. My Hcg levels are rising slowly, I am having some light bleeding, my ultrasound shows something beside my right ovary but the Dr. is unsure what it is and they are unable to detect a fetal sac.my last menstral cycle began Aug7th 2008. My first HcG drawn sept. 18th was 538, The second drawn sep 22nd was 620. I switch Dr.s because she wanted me to terminate the pregnancy. My next Dr. drew an HcG on sept 25th with a 620 so he thought I might be miscarrying. We redrew the HCG sep 29th and it doubled to 1284. I am having no abdominal discomfort or pain other than gas. My Dr. says it may be eptopic but he can't say for certain. I am unsure what to do and need some guidance or some explanation as to what might be going on.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I've lost 2 myself (no ectopics).  I'm here if you need to talk.

I am so very sorry.  I haven't experienced etopic, but I know what its like to miscarry.  I hope you are blessed again soon, and in the meantime take the time you need to heal.  Thinking of you, and take care.  Amanda

I went through the same thing in Feb of 2005.  I lost my entire tube.  However, there is still hope for you, as there was for me.  I am now 5wks pregn, and I am trusting God for a healthy baby.  You take care of yourself, and when you are ready you go ahead and have your Angel.

I am praying for you.

Yolanda

Just wanted to updat everyone and thank all here for your support. The pregnancy was ectopic and I had to have surgery yesturday to remove it and part of my tube. The dr. said it had attached to my tube and there was no way around having to remove part of it. My left ovary and tube are fine and we can try again in a few months.

Yes you need a 48 hr spread to check doubling. If you only have four day data you need to calculate based on that (ie double twice). You never know though. After my first m/c I just refused to have those blood tests anymore, they're too stressful.  We just waited for 7-8 wks to have u/s. Good luck....

That is how my HCG levels were when I had an Ectopic Pregnancy.  I would request more HCG level drawn 48 hours away and see what the numbers look like, if they contiune to rise but very slow I would take the advise from your doctor as to what to do.  I took the methotraxiate shot with my ectopic.

Good luck to you.

You are unfortunately in that horrible waiting time.  The fact that your HCG level doubled is a really great sign!  If I am correct, you are almost 9 weeks pregnant.  When are they doing another ultrasound?  You should be able to detect the heartbeat, etc. at this point, so hopefully that is what they will see.  Bleeding can be an indicator of a loss, but many women bleed in their first trimester, and all turns out just fine.  I would be asking for 2 more blood draws, 48 hours apart, and another ultrasound.  I wish you all the best!!  Please let us know how you are doing.

My, that's a tricky situation.  Good for you that you changed drs when the 1st suggested termination.  I wish I could help you, but probably all you can do is wait.  My LMP was 7/17 and we've seen the baby and its heartbeat twice (a month ago and 2 wks ago).  With both my m/c's, bleeding was my 1st inkling that something was wrong, but that's not always the case.  HCG levels are supposed to double every 48hrs at the start, but I've heard that some people are "late bloomers" and things "settle in" a little later.

Sorry I can't be more help, but my prayers are with you.
