not a miscarriage

I went to the ER yesterday with bleeding and clotting. It wasn't a miscarriage but a subchorionic hematoma. But there is still a chance that I could miscarry. Oh and good news, they saw a heartbeat.

Yeah, it was pretty heavy at times, lighter (more like spotting) at others.  It scared the heck out of me and I can remember telling DH on more then one occasion that I was losing this baby too.  However, everything was fine.  I had some bleeding as well in third trimester, but it was a small placental tear.  I didn't even have to go on bedrest, but did have to take it very easy...again, all turned out fine.

I would bet just about anything that your pregnancy is going to be fine.  They always have to tell you worst possible case scenario. but I cannot remember a single women on here who lost their baby to a hematomma, even though there have been many who had them.  It should bleed itself out soon enough.  It's scary to see though, I know.  Hang in there, that heartbeat is excellent news!!

if i don't rest and the hemotoma dislodges all at once then it could bring the baby along with it. Was your bleeding like a period. I was cramping so bad yesterday the doctor prescribed me tylenol w codeine.

Yay!!!!  I am so happy to hear that.  I too had a subchronic hematoma and it bled itself out in a few weeks with no harm to the baby at all.  The best news is seeing the heartbeat! Once a healthy heartbeat is detected your chance of a loss declines fairly dramatically.  I am curious as to why they thought you might still miscarry?  Usually after a heartbeat they don't say that anymore, or at least that was my experience.  Is it because of the hematoma?  Anyway, congratulations to you.  The heartbeat is a big milestone!!
