progersterone levels are low

if anyone else has delt with this or knows anything about progersterone pls email me or respond to this post.
i suffer from sever anxiety and just had my progersterone levels checked again yesterday. i am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and am concerened my levels are low. the last time we tested they were 12 but the doctor didnt stress bc of my hcg. well i called for yesterdays results and the doc is calling mr back instead of the nurse.. im worried.. i feel 100% pregnant. the ultrasound at 6 weeks was perfect! even saw a heartbeat.. has anyone delt with low progersterone levels? and if so did you have a postive outcome? i dont have a history of miscarriage but i know ti is common even to those who dont have a history.. just would like some feedback on this topic. can i still have a healthy outcome. will suppliments help? can i carry saftly and a low level? believe me i will ask the doctor all these questions when he calls but for now i am trying to read up on it..  hope to hear something back

I took them orally, 300mg a day.  I don't mean to suggest that they don't work, just that I have heard a lot of conflicting info. It seems to depend on which Dr. you ask.   I m/c on them and not on them, but I have no idea if low progesterone was the reason behind my losses.   I'm curious to hear what your Dr. suggests.  I do think if you are not confident in him, it's always best to switch.  Please keep us posted and good luck!!

Try not to worry (I know, easier said then done).  My OB is one that has never even tested my progesterone levels.  In a healthy pregnancy the body will do what it needs to to produce enough progesterone.  Unfortunately, in an unhealthy pregnancy, not much can be done in first trimester.  She did have me on supplements, but only as a precautionary measure as I have a history of m/c.  Many Dr.'s disagree on whether or not progesterone supplements actually do anything.  All that being said, the important thing is that you had a good ultrasound with a heartbeat.  That is a huge milestone, and once a healthy heartbeat is detected your chance of a miscarriage drops dramatically.  Most miscarriages will take place without a heartbeat ever being detected.  It sounds like your in good shape.  Congrats on your pregnancy and I wish you well.

Melissia,

Congrats - my levels were low when I got pregnant with my daughter who is now 21 months old and they put me on medication to up the #ers . Thank god it worked because they told me I was going to more than likely have a misscarriage and tha thought of that scared me . I know all babies are special but my baby was a xtra special gift from god she was a fertility baby and she was born 3 days before my mom passed away from copd. So my point is the meds do work just think postive and have a great pregnancy. I am trying for #2 now I hope it comes easier this time around because now I am 40. Congrats again

I'm in the same boat. My ob called me Monday to say that my hcg was good and my progesterone is 7.  (I was tested at 5wks5d) I questioned him about the low number and he said he wasn't concerned and the high hcg level meant all was good at this point.  I'm still worried though and when I see him on Tuesday I'm going to ask for supplements anyways and see what he says.  I know reports are mixed on whether they help or not and some doc's dont even test for progesterone levels but I think it would put my mind at ease.

I would not be too worried: some doctors don't even measure progesterone, because I think they don't mean too much plus they can widely change during the day. The most important thing is that you saw a hearbeat!

Nevertheless it never hurts to take progesterone supplements: call your doctor for some vaginal suppos. You will generally take them until the 12th week.
