trying to conceive at 40

I have been keeping track of my LH surge with an ovulation test for a week now. Did the "baby dance" on Saturday, 11/26, two days prior to ovulation. Noticed that the surge had begun on Monday 11/28. Did the "baby dance" again that night when I was also noticing ovulation cramping. The ovulation test still shows that the LH surge is still happening the morning after the "baby dance". What are the chances that I could have conceived and when should I do a pregnancy test?

Didn't work this time : (
I'm going to try Clear Blue Easy OPK and see what happens. I've been told by others on this forum that that is the best brand.

Thanks Ladies.

Oh, I was going to say that I've read a lot of articles that say it's best to bd b/4 the positive OPK. You have a better chance of getting preggo. So you timed it right. Now all you can do is keep your fingers crossed that it worked and you get a little sticky bean.

I suppose if you actually did ovulate (you can have a positive OPK and not ovulate) then you have as good a chance of anyone our age. I forget the percentage.  As far as when to test.....probably the earliest would be 11 or 12 DPO and you might still get a negative then even if you are pregnant.  Women are all differrnt and produce hcg at different rates.  good luck and hope it works out for you this month!!
