water birth

Had my 38 week check up yesterday and been given the all clear for a water birth (providing the pool is available) has anyone ever had one? How would you compare it to natural birth? My first born was natural.

Thanks

I had a water birth with my first and am hoping for the same this time round. The water really helped reduce the pain of the contractions from the minute I got in the pool. It was very calming and relaxing. Still hurts of course ;-) but I am sure I managed without pain meds purely because of the water. Hope you get your wish x good luck x

Ive not had one wanted one badly. Ive heard its awesome for helping with relieving pain. In water it helps soothe and relax also heard its a smoother transition for baby. Just once baby is above water thrir lungs right awsy adapt.but baby if u have dr or midwife knowing what their doing baby can stay under water a few before coming up their getting oxygen from the cord. Once above water tho they can't go back under.

Hi, I haven't had a water birth but I would love to. The hospital I have my children at don't allow water births although some people say it does depend on the midwife you get but I have had a couple friends and family members have water births and they say its the best thing ever. They said the water is the best form of pain relief ever.
