37 & TTC

Hi...I'm new to this and could use a lot of support. I have been ttc for two years now. I don't have a partner. I am using donor sperm. I have the 37-year-old syndrome where I have done all I need to do in my life and now want to have a child (i.e. travel, post grad school, professional, etc..). I have had 3 cycles of IUI and 1 cycle of IVF and no luck. I know I need to stay positive, but it's wearing very thin. I don't know if it will ever happen for me. I am almost 37 years old and have never been pregnant. I know I have PCOS and irregular periods since age 12. Any positive and inspriational news out there?

Thanks,
Hopefull.

Hi,

With PCOS you should be on Metformin.  Also make sure your weight is normal.

Don't give up.    I am 40 now.  I am a 'sort of single' mum by choice - but my 20 month old's father is a good friend, not my husband, and am now 6 weeks pregnant with my second after 3 rounds of IUI (and first round of femara).

I give thanks every day to have this joy and blessing of being a mother.

If you only used clomid for your IUI cycles, it would probably be worth trying again with Femara or injectables.

First off, welcome!!  And know you aren't alone.  I wasn't even sure I wanted children until mid 30's and we started trying at 38.  It took awhile, but I gave birth to a healthy baby boy in Jan. who is now 8 months old.  It was hard, but it was worth it.  We are so fortunate to live in a time where we do have so many options.  Hang in there and keep working with that RE. It can be frustrating and take it's toll emotionally, but trust me, the second you hold that baby in your arms it will all have been worth it.  Hang in there and it will happen!  SSBD to you (super sticky baby dust).

I am not sure what half the letters mean, but am kind of in the same position... But not the sperm donor route and I am real close to 50 yes old... Have been pregnant twice... Or 3 xs the doc is not sure...

Reading a book called "Conscious Parenting" which has given me a very different view of things and a new hope...

Wishing you all your dreams and good parenting!!!
