Donor egg clinics

Hi all:

I wanted to see if anyone on here had any advice or experience with 2 clinics for DE.  I am currently going to Cornell but now that I have decided to do DE, I see that their succes rate is not as high as other clinics?  I live in Central Jersey so could go to NY or NJ.  Any advise?

Personally, Nicole, I wouldn't worry about the mock trial.  I didn't do a mock one for mine although earlier before the 1st cycle, I did a mock transfer.

It really depends on what you look for - you can look at the percentage rate for live births for the clinics you want or you could also look at the individual doctors/convenience of location.  I wish I knew more like which embryologists are the best, etc in your area (or heck even in our area) - that's so important but usually all of them are so highly qualified.

It sounds like IVF NJ (that's the name of the clinic?) has a great rate of success - 80% is awesome!  I'm sure Cornell will be good as well.  Do you like your doctor at Cornell?

More importantly, go where you feel comfortable w/the doctor and the staff.  I hope this helps and let me know how things go! - jen

Thanks Jen. I am sooo confused.  I think Cornell is wonderul if I were to try with my own eggs.. but I am not sure about the DE program.  Do you need to go to teh best clinic for IVF?  What should I look for in a clinic?

IVF NJ does not do mock trials unless my history requires.  That makes me nervous even though they have almost an 80% succes rate.  If I do go, I think I would insist on the mock.  What do you think?

This is such a hard decision.. Cornell was my 3rd clinic and 3rd IVF.  Should I move on????  I am soooooo confused. I wish I had a crystal ball!!!!

You could check cdc.gov & see what the stats are of the clinics in your area.  That could help you decide which clinic to go to - best of luck (again!), jen

Donor egg cycles have the highest percentage of success of all ART procedures.  The national average is something like 60% for a live birth. The reality of it is that the success is usually much higher.  The clinic where I did mine had an overall success rating of over 75% back in 2006 - the clinic where I really wanted to go was even higher.

If you want, I'll be glad to look up the exact link although I'm sure it's relatively easy to find :-)) - jen

Hi there,
All I can tell you is that i also looked into DE about 2 years ago. With the expense and small percentage of success,,I was extremely reluctant. I am in Boston where many DE centers are and felt uncomfortable with it all...too much of a hard "sell"

Best of luck to you
