Implantation and HCG

I have a question. I am aware it takes about 5 - 8 days for implantation to complete. At what point when implantation is happening does the HCG get released? Is it at the end of implantation or during? I got alittle freaked out when I read about chemical pregnancies.

I ovulated either the 13th or 14th of May because I tested + using clearblue OPK on both those days only. We baby danced of course. THEN counting 9 days from the 15th of May I took a pregnancy test on the 23th of May and i got very very faint lines on about 5 tests ( the cheap tests from the internet) but the lines were definately there. 2 days after that ( 25th ) I took the clearblue pregnancy test.. 2 of them, and very quickly dark blue crosses appeared showing positive pregnancies on both.

I am just confused about how fast I was able to detect HCG after ovulation and the urine sample was not even an early morning one either. I was able to test positive any time of the day from the 23rd day of may.

Am I safe from a chemical pregnancy? Did my implantation complete already and that's why HCG is in my system? If someone full of knowledge can give me some answers that are factual that would be awesome. thanks :)

The earliest I ever had a positive was 7 DPO.  That was on a First Reponse.  As Yvette said, they are very very sensitive.  Average time for implantation is about 5-7 days.  However, it can actually take place as early as 3 days.  I suspect you probably had an early implantation.  Some studies have been done that late implantation can increase chances of a chemical pregnancy (which is actually a very early miscarriage).  Try not to worry...I know easier said then done.  Remember that 75% of pregnancies work out just fine...those are great odds.  A chemical pregnancy is always a possibility, but try to think the best.  I had a chemical pregnancy just last month.  I got my BFP at about 12 DPO, and started spotting the very same day.  If you have a postive, and you are not bleeding, try to be positive.  Congratulations, and good luck to you.

Sorry I totally misread your post.

In the fastest of circumstances you could have tested postive with a pregnancy test as early as day 7 or 8.  It takes 5 to 7 days for the egg to travel through the fallopian tube , then another two days for hcg to show up in your system.   Many of the pregnancy tests are set to detect hcg at fairly low levels.  I got a positive on first response early response and my hcg level was about 9.  They are pretty sensitive.   I'd say with all those positives you sound like your pregnant.  As far as being safe from chemical pregnancy...that's hard to say and you would need  a crystal ball to predict that.

Your best way of knowing if you are off to a good start is to have a blood test done.   INfertility doctors like to see hcg above 100 at 15 DAYS PAST Ovulation.  THat is usually a good sign that the pregnancy will continue and that it's not a chemical pregnancy.

So now you just have to wait it out and time will tell what will happen with your pregnancy.

After implantation takes place it takes a couple of days for the hcg to show up in your urine.

Since you used two differnt test, I would assume that either one test had a higher level to detect hcg, and that's why you saw positive on one and not the other.

Or you saw a evap or ghost line on the cheapie internet HPT.   I think CBE detets hcg at about 25 so maybe you're not at that level yet.

You should probably be able to get a positive by 12DPO.   Try first response early response.   Not a digital test.   That brand detects hcg at a very low level.

Or maybe, like you said it was a chemical.   It's really hard to say since you are testing so early, but I think you're second test didn't work because it detected hcg at a different level than the first.

HCG starts when it's released by the embryo after it's implanted in the uterus.  If your embryo implanted fairly quickly after fertilization, it makes sense that you would already have enough hcg in your urine to get a positive pregnancy test even if you didn't use FMU.  When's your AF due or your LMP?  Lots of tests can detect early positive results up to 5 days before AF is due.  Perhaps that's what has happened in your case.

You can not know at this point if you're safe from a chemical pregnancy.  The thing to do now is to have a quantative hcg beta performed at your doctor's office to see how much hcg there is in your blood and then have it repeated in two days.  The number should double in approximately 48-72 hours.  If your number's going up as indicated, chances are that you're not having a chemical pregnancy.

This reply is to the best of my knowledge - I look forward to hear other opinions.  Good luck on your pregnancy & congratulations - jen
