I canceled my travel plans in the first trimester because my nurse told me that there is evidence of some link between change in air pressure, etc. and miscarriage. I didn't want to take any chances.
That being said, during my first pregnancy with my dd, I traveled to and from Mexico before I even knew I was pregnant and obviously people travel all the time during pregnancy and everything is fine.
Unless your having complications and your Dr., tells you otherwise, there is no problem at all with travel during pregnancy. If you are in third trimester, some airlines do require a note from your Dr., (they don't want you going into labour midflight), but in early pregnancy, no problem at all. It is recommended on long flights that you get up and walk around a bit every so often to prevent blood clots, but I think that is about it. Always best to discuss it with your OB beforehand to ensure there is no reason you shouldn't but for most, no problem.
Enjoy your flight!
do it now, it only gets harder to travel as you get bigger!
I flew out to Orgeon from the east coast when I was 20 weeks pg and had no problems.
I did read that if you do fly, especially a longer flight, that making connections is a good option to go since the planes do not fly as high as if they were going the longest distance. (I hope I made sense.)
my doctor and midwife had no problem with it. after 32 weeks i am supposed to stay closer to home, but i traveled to ecuador at 20 weeks with no problems.
