Miscarriage and bleeding

Hello all

I have a question about miscarriage and bleeding...Does bleeding (as a sign of miscarriage) usually start 1 day, 2 days, 1 week or 2 weeks before miscarriying? What is the most common scenario?

Thanks.

with my first miscarriage i started bleeding only when i wiped on a Saturday, and tht lasted for four days then i had HEAVY bleeding Thursday through Sunday and that is what the doctor said was the actual miscarriage.......
the second time I was 22 weeks pregnant and delivered the baby at home, then bled for two weeks lightly........
not sure what you can make of that as to when bleeding starts.....sorry.....

I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks 3 days but started light bleeding about a week before hand. I went to hospital after severe cramping, lower back pain and increased bleeding overnight. By the time I went to the hospital my body was already  entering pre-term labour to get rid of the dead foetus. According to the scan the foetus died at about 8 weeks, but becuase I was waiting for my 12 weeks scan the miscarrige was not picked up unitl my body eventually had to expell it. It was a traumatuc way to have a miscarrige (not that all miscarriages arn't traumatic)  becaue I had all the same labour pains as a full term pregnancy. This was my first pregnacy so it was a shock to find myself in the labour ward with all the same pain of a full term pregnancy but no baby to take home. I decided to have medical intervention to remove the foetus instead of going throuh the entire delivery.

I am now 13 weeks pregnant and had the scan yesterday and so far all is going well.

Wow, so glad you will be delivering soon! Sad stories but as you said, things happen for a reason we just need to stay positive. Congratulations and all the best for your delivery.

For my 1st miscarriage a 11 weeks, it was a blighted ovum (sac kept developing but not the embryo), it was discovered at 9 weeks - no bad symptoms. Doctor gave me Cytotec to accelerate things as miscarriage did not happen on its own.

For my other miscarriage at 11 weeks, I was carrying twins that stopped developing at 7.3 and 8 weeks, again no bad symptoms at all and miscarriage discovered at 9 weeks. D&C scheduled after that, still no bad symptoms - except intense fatigue. For this last miscarriage, there is speculation that a blood clot my have been responsible (MTHFR) - I was diagnosed with this blood clot mutation only recently... it makes me very mad!

Bad stories have sometimes a good ending: I am currently pregnant with a baby boy, due in less than 3 weeks!

Wow, 11 weeks is late. I would believe that beyong 7 or 8 weeks, chances are  very low to have a misc. Did the dr explain why week 11? At that stage, you are at the foetal stage aren't you?

Sorry to hear that, I wish you a lot of success next time. It seems like when this happens, it is because it is not handled properly and our body has to miscarry otherwise it is not viable.
One of my friends had 3 miscarriages before succeeding in a 4rth pregnancy (she was still bleeding on her 4rth time with clots and cramping, fertility dr gave her progesterone to help out and it worked even though she was bleeding, a close follow up helps sometimes) she is now 2 weeks from delivery. She has exaclty my age. Also my sister had one miscarriage at the time before having her 3 wonderful daughters. I feel it happens to everyone around me so I am bit scared and try to watch any signs that would indicate miscarriage and doubting about my symptoms, don't find I have enough : Probably paranoied with all people's experiences but I can't control that ;-(

Good luck to all of us.

Sometimes you don't bleed at all: I had 2 natural miscarriages and I discovered them before I bled. One of them I had a D&C at 11 weeks and never bled, the other one I bled for a day only when I was given Cytotec to speed up the miscarriage, at about 11 weeks as well.
Good luck, a miscarriage is never easy!

Thanks for your answer. I am miscarrying (I am 6 weeks) but was just curious about how a miscarriage bleeding starts and how long it takes. I worry already. Thank you
